  • We want to say a huge thank you to @nadubristol for their generosity in hosting our M32 Youth Group for a memorable meal! 💗🍲 The kindness allowed many of our young people to experience Sri Lankan cuisine for the first time! It was an incredible opportunity for them to try new flavours and learn more about a vibrant culture they hadn’t yet had the chance to explore. Here's a couple of things the Youth Group have said: 💬 “It’s been amazing! I tried things I have never tried before” 💬  “The food was nice, I was surprised how nice the kale was. It was very kind of them to have us” Thank you to NADU for an unforgettable experience and for making our group feel so welcome.

  • The Loop is back this Saturday! 💊🤔🔬 👉 This service gives an opportunity to receive a tailored harm reduction intervention based on information about what drugs are currently in circulation in the city. 👉 You can submit a substance of concern for drug checking. 👉 These samples will help us build a picture of the drug supply in the city, and this data will help keep people who use drugs safe from dangerous substances.

  • It's #BlackHistoryMonth so today we're celebrating Imani Woods! 👉 Imani Woods was a harm reduction pioneer, Black community leader, educator and activist for people who use drugs. 👉 On her mission to increase harm reduction accessibility, Woods questioned the realities facing Black communities that caused people to reject harm reduction. 👉 Woods believed that many Black people felt mistrust over harm reduction services due to a history of white supremacy in public health, and advocated for the inclusion of people who use drugs in the development and implementation of the services who use them. 💬 “Drug users of African descent suffer disproportionately from an array of drug-related adverse effects: unemployment, substandard housing, homelessness, family dislocation, police brutality, incarceration and recidivism, poor educational outcome, inadequate healthcare in response disproportionate incidence of disease, and high rates of mortality and morbidity. 💬 These disparities can create a barrier of mistrust that prevents the African American community from even considering, much less embracing, programs seen as imposed on it by the majority culture.” 👉 Woods went on to be a founding member of the Harm Reduction Coalition in 1993, an organisation dedicated to uplifting the voices and experiences of people who use drugs. 💬 “You can’t talk about drugs without talking about race” 👉 Woods’ commitment to lead with compassion, build relationships, acknowledge the barriers and advocate for the rights of Black people who use drugs continues to inspire contemporary harm reduction services across the world.
