The British Judo community has been rocked by suicide on a number of occasions over the years. This is a sensitive but important day to reflect on. Every year on 10th September, organisations and communities around the world come together to raise awareness of how we can create a world where fewer people die by suicide. About us
The British Judo Association is the recognised National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of judo in Great Britain. British Judo is a membership organisation and delivers judo through its network of clubs and qualified coaches across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. There are just under 900 British Judo Association Clubs in Great Britain. The Association is a member of the International Judo Federation, European Judo Union, British Olympic Association, Commonwealth Judo Association and Commonwealth Games Council. The Association has the responsibility of developing and governing the sport at all levels from grass roots to Olympic level competition. Its remit includes governance, coaching, events, technical, welfare and the promotion of the sport. The Association has 42 employees and is based in Walsall. The British Judo Olympic and Paralympic National Training Centre is based at the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus.
