The Planning and Compulsory Purchase team within our Built Environment sector group advised Cardiff Parkway Developments on a new business district and railway station in Cardiff East, which was granted planning permission by the Welsh Government last week. It is the first of six stations proposed by the South East Wales Transport Commission to receive the go-ahead. The new scheme, Cardiff Parkway, will form part of a 90,000sqm business district that could support up to 6,000 jobs, and provide a sustainable transport hub that will promote active travel and easy access to frequent rail services. Located equidistant between Cardiff and Newport, Cardiff Parkway will allow passengers to travel to the centres of Cardiff and Newport in seven minutes. The improved transport links will support local communities with access to more services and create new employment opportunities whilst reducing traffic and environmental impact. Leading on the project was Alex Minhinick and Philip Beer with the team providing planning, real estate and rail expertise.
