Last month we welcomed 15 senior leaders to the inaugural Peer-Learning Network discussion in the heart of London. Our topic was “Delivering meaningful change … even in the face of resistance” and we explored some of the successes and pain points for those in the room; under Chatham House Rules. Participants enjoyed a full and rich discussion over breakfast and we loved hearing their feedback following the session: ✍ “Fantastic meeting! Thank you for bringing the group together and for the quality conversation.” ✍ “Thank you for organising a gathering of like-minded senior professionals who face common challenges… It is lonely at the top and having a circle of brainpower to lean into is always helpful.” ✍ “It was a fantastic session, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with such an insightful group. Looking forward to continuing these meaningful discussions.” Our next session is lunchtime on Thursday 5th December, where we’ll focus in on “Influencing Leadership Mindsets, Skills & Behaviours”. To find out more about joining the network, contact Cath Longfield (she, her) or Jo Basu (née Parker) #leadership #learninganddevelopment #bcas24

Six key takeaways from today's webinar with Business Culture Awards & Business Culture Connected, sponsored by PIB Employee Benefits... 📊 Data is everything: The more information you have, the more preventative measures you can implement. Plus you'll then be able to see the impact of intervention 🍦 Wellbeing risks are an iceberg: A lack of investment causes a number of issues, many of which are hidden 'under the surface' and not immediately obvious 🤷♀️ Wellbeing fatigue: Although we hear a lot about 'wellbeing fatigue', 83% of attendees did not believe there was too much focus on wellbeing in their organisation 🤝 Tiered support: HR leaders should look at ensuring there's comprehensive support at an individual, managerial and organisational level 🔧 Managerial empowerment: Companies need to equip managers with the tools they need to have valuable conversations with their team about wellbeing and support early intervention 🗨 Target communications: Ensure you are engaging employees in the way that makes sense for them #EmployeeWellbeing #EmployeeBenefits

I picked up a wealth of Wellbeing takeaways from today’s excellent Business Culture Awards & Business Culture Connected webinar, and it reinforced that this is something which sits right at the heart of positive and productive workplace cultures. It was fascinating to explore PIB Employee Benefits research and real-life examples from two of our Business Culture award-winning organisations Alzheimer's Society and Zopa Bank, including that: ➕ We have to keep circling back to listen. Employers can fall prey to “initiative-itis” where wellbeing is concerned but what is it that our employees are saying they want most and where are the gaps between this and our provision? ➕ Employees say there's a particular gap between help with managing their current (rather than longterm) finances and with support for eldercare than there is provision for. ➕ 33% of employees worry so much about their mental health it impacts productivity. ➕ Managers need to be having the sometimes difficult conversations around wellbeing and being coached as to how. Starting with simple, open-ended questions and asking “how are you really?” can be more effective than people think too. ➕ What employees want and need is getting ever more complex as the number of generations in the workplace increases, meaning more tailored solutions are needed. ➕ There’s a blurred line between what an employer could provide support with and what employees need to take individual responsibility for – 37% of employees don't actually access any information about their benefits. ➕ To understand how important it is to invest in wellbeing, you only have to look at the impact of not doing so. Many of the risks associated with poor wellbeing are hidden or conflated but just as detrimental to organisational performance, eg. presenteeism, resenteeism, damaged brand reputation. Many thanks to our fantastic speakers Clare Dare, Corinne Mills, Emily Dickens, Katie Jacobs.
