You may know what science can do, but what about the people who become scientists? 🥼 A new graphic book tells the inspiring stories of a team of Cambridge scientists working in the Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge. Each story reveals the dedication, hard work and unique journeys that led these researchers to the forefront of medical science. The book’s illustrations are the work of a Ukrainian refugee who fled her home in Kyiv following Russia’s invasion. The Department had the pleasure of hosting the 2024 Sutton Trust Summer School cohort on Thursday 8th August. The Sutton Trust Summer School is a 5 day, subject-specific residential held in Cambridge. The programme aims to give students the full Cambridge student experience (including academic teaching and social life) whilst providing them with information and advice to support them during the application process. For Biochemistry, Pathology and Pharmacology groups, students took part in a 2-hour workshop and lab tour, alongside lectures given by Janet Kumita and Ewan St. John Smith. Medical and Veterinary students also received a lecture from Taufiq Rahman.
