.txt has raised an impressive $11.9M across two rounds in less than 10 months! 🥳 Dottxt’s funding consists of two successive rounds - a $3.2M pre-seed round led by Elaia, completed in December 2023, followed by an $8.7M seed round in August 2024 led by EQT Ventures 💥🚀 AI doesn’t fit into existing software engineering workflows, because it literally doesn’t speak the same language. For instance, LLMs (large language models) require a lot of cajoling to deliver valid JSON. Dottxt has created an ecosystem and platform for interacting with LLMs that “make AI talk computer”. Its open source library, Outlines, has been downloaded over 3 million times, with OpenAI and Cohere being early users of the platform. This new round of funding will help the company grow the team and development efforts. Dottxt also attracted a phenomenal list of further investors, including Seedcamp, Common Magic, Kima Ventures, Script Capital, STATION F and angels investors Roxanne VARZA, Julien Chaumond, Bob van Luijt, Erik Bernhardsson, Jean-Louis Quéguiner, Rick Lamers, and Pierre Valade among others. 🤔 What is EU Inc and why is everyone talking about it? 🌟 Yesterday marked the launch of The EU Inc Petition, a significant milestone for Europe's tech ecosystem. An initiative to create a unified corporate structure for startups across the continent, EU Inc seeks to take on the fragmentation that has long hindered the growth and competitiveness of European startups in a proposal to new EU commissioners ahead of the agenda for the next few years. The next six weeks represent a critical window of opportunity to influence policy direction. If successful, EU Inc could pave the way for a more integrated and competitive European tech sector. Andreas Klinger, an investor with Prototype Capital 🦾 and one of the co-initiators of EU Inc, explains that the current system effectively silos each country's startup scene. This isolation limits access to capital and talent, putting European startups at a disadvantage compared to their American counterparts. The proposal is backed by some of Europe's most successful entrepreneurs and investors, including Ilkka Paananen of Supercell, Taavet Hinrikus of Wise and Niklas Zennström of Atomico. 🚨7 in 10 women in VC are concerned about the return to work after having a baby🚨 A new report by WVC:E has today revealed the untold stories of mothers in venture capital 👀 In a male-dominated industry, WVC:E collected data from 120 respondents from 20 European countries and various fund sizes, revealing the following: 👉 Over two-thirds of women planning on having children or more children were concerned about returning to work in venture capital, and one in five respondents were very concerned. 👉 84% were concerned about parental leave (the amount of time off or the pay level) 👉 Almost 80% of respondents felt there was room for improvement in their return to work process, and just over one in three said there was considerable room for improvement. 👉The top three concerns shared by respondents were 👇 Career progression/promotion opportunities -  32% The long-term sustainability of working in VC and parenting - 25% Establishing boundaries, e.g., evening events - 23% VC remains male-dominated despite relatively rapid progress in recent decades. Women comprise 16% of European General Partners and only a third of investing teams. In the UK, the gender composition of teams has remained unchanged since 2019, with female representation flat at 30%.  Sophie Winwood, CEO of WVC:E, shared, “The findings in this report shine a light on the unique challenges women face in venture capital, especially when balancing motherhood with the demands of the industry. Our goal is not to place blame but to foster understanding and inspire meaningful change.
