🚨 The Bank of England has cut its base rate to 4.5%, a move that will bring lower borrowing costs, more affordable mortgage rates and a positive boost for the property market. Chestertons' Head of Sales Matthew Thompson says: “With the first rate cut of the year, the Bank of England sends a positive message to buyers as well as homeowners whose mortgage is due for renewal. Last week, the Renters' Rights Bill passed its final reading in the House of Commons with minor amends and is now scheduled for debate in the UK House of Lords on the 4th February. Given the speed at which the Bill is moving through the legislation process, we expect that parts of it could become law as early as March or April. Once implemented, this will mark the most significant change to the private rented sector since the Housing Act of 1988. As a landlord, it’s important to understand the key changes brought about by this bill and how it will affect you and the way you manage your tenants and properties.
