Raghunath Peter Doraisamy FCIArb and Pranav Kamnani review 'Contemporary Issues in Mediation: Volume 8' for the Ciarb Journal. The collection of nine essays address novel and pressing challenges in modern mediation practice. The book explores diverse themes such as the implementation of the Singapore Convention on Mediation, mediator ethics, and family dispute mediation. It provides valuable insights into practical, socio-political, and legal complexities surrounding mediation, offering a compelling argument for its growing prominence over arbitration. In commemoration of International Women’s Day, I had the honor of moderating a powerful conversation at the CIArb IWD Event—"Wearing Multiple Hats: Between Professional (Arbitrator - Counsel) / Personal Life." Joined by a stellar panel of Elena Gutiérrez, Edna Sussman, Kamumbu Mwondela, and Jose Antonio Rivas, we explored the complexities of career transitions, the shift from counsel or expert to neutral, and the importance of mentorship. Key takeaways? ✅ Navigating multiple roles requires balance and adaptability. ✅ The transition to a neutral role is both a strategic and personal journey. ✅ Mentorship remains essential—learning from those who have walked the path before us makes all the difference. A heartfelt thank you to our panelists and attendees for sharing their insights and experiences. And a special thank you to Cristen Bauer and Catriona Gallagher for their incredible work in putting this event together! Let’s continue fostering inclusion, mentorship, and opportunities for growth in the arbitration community. #IWD #WomenInArbitration #Mentorship #CareerGrowth #CIArb #Arbitration #InternationalWomensDay
