About us

Civic Earth provide geoconsultancy services by our team of geologists, engineers and environmental scientists, working across the UK to provide geotechnical and geoenvironmental, soil health and material management consultancy services. We are a team of geoengineers who care about planet, people and place. We are active listeners and proactive problem solvers who are driven by the carbon challenge we face. We recognise the connectivity between soil functions, material reuse, soil health and biodiversity, all of which positively contribute to the low carbon agenda. We provide analysis and solutions that look beyond soil strength and remediation to also consider soil health and carbon impacts in the sustainable treatment of contaminated ground. We believe that effective collaboration of the technical disciplines within project teams optimises soil functions, which is critical to system thinking in the built environment. A sound understanding of the ground conditions is key to understanding and managing risk in development projects, and we use our unique blend of insight, intuition, skill and judgement to take an intelligent approach to risk that is carefully balanced with a commercial understanding and appreciation of the vision for a project.

The theme for International Women's Day this year is #AccelerateAction, and what better way to inspire change than through the eyes of the next generation? We asked young people of team Civic to grab their pencils, crayons, and paint to draw a picture of what their mum figure does at work. From teachers to doctors, engineers to analysts, their drawings showcase the many ways women contribute, innovate, and drive action every day.  Swipe through to see their amazing artwork - because when we empower women, we inspire future generations to dream big! #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #TeamCivic

  • “What if we treated soil as a friend?” The connectivity between soil health, material reuse, soil function and biodiversity is critical to developing sustainability and the low carbon agenda. Christine Murray, editor at The Developer and Festival of Place shares our director Dan Matthews’ insights in her piece “It's time to reset our relationship with nature and each other” 📖 https://lnkd.in/efvRyqrf As a member of the Soils Taskforce, Dan Matthews advocates an urgent, industry-wide change of mindset to champion soil reuse. “Soil harbours 58 per cent of the planet’s biodiversity – a teaspoon of soil contains more living organisms than there are people on earth.” Keen to find out more about the role soil has to play in creating a sustainable built environment?
