About us
Systems Engineering is a broad topic and here at Claytex, A TECHNIA Company, we focus on the modelling and simulation of the system to understand it's behaviour and dynamics. Our work covers multiple industries and domains such as vehicle dynamics, energy management of buildings, flight dynamics of drones, thermal management and extends into the virtual testing of ADAS and autonomous vehicles with physics based sensor models. We help our customers understand their designs to make better products, faster. We are a consultancy, software developer, distributor and training provider. We develop simulation solutions using the open standards of Modelica, FMI, OpenSCENARIO and OpenDRIVE; distribute systems engineering solutions from Dassault Systemes, rFpro and specialist Modelica library developers. Our portfolio of tools includes Dymola, Reqtify, rFpro as well as our own software products including the VeSyMA suite of solutions. We also build bespoke simulation tools for specialist applications. We are active in a number of industries including Automotive, Aerospace, Defence and Energy sectors. Claytex has a number of customers in Motorsport competing in Formula 1, NASCAR and Indycar using solutions developed by us. These teams are using our solutions to model the whole car including the engine, powertrain, and chassis systems and they are deploying these into offline simulation, lapsim applications and driver-in-the-loop simulators. More recently we have been working on the development of simulation solutions to enable the virtual testing, development and training of autonomous vehicles and ADAS features. These solutions are built around rFpro with sensor models and tools for scenario based testing that are developed by Claytex. We also develop Modelica libraries and FMI based solutions. Our range of Modelica application libraries for Dymola are focused on ground and air vehicle simulation. We utilise the FMI standard to enable models to be easily shared.

Last month we took part in the last Indy Autonomous Challenge race of the year at the Racing Capital of the World, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, achieving some great results. 🏁 We reached an astonishing top speed of 286 kmh [ 177 mph ] and an average in a single lap of 264 kmh [ 163 mph ] in the time trial, which assured us the qualification to the passing competition. After winning a couple of head-to-head matches we made it to the final, performing an incredible duel against PoliMOVE Autonomous Racing Team which allowed both of us to push our cars to the limit and during which we reached the highest overtaking speeds in the history of autonomous driving, proving once again the outstanding level that this competition has come to. We take the chance to give a shout-out to them for the great results achieved, being grateful to share the top steps of the podium with another Italian team! Apart from these amazing results, our greatest achievement has surely been in the pre-race tests. We have been able to complete more than 1,000 laps, which means more than 3,000 km covered without an accident and with a perfectly working autonomous driving system. Many congratulations also to Cavalier Autonomous Racing for winning the time trial, as well as to all the other teams who participated in the competition. Huge thanks to Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia and Hipert for the constant support and hard work. Thanks also to our technical sponsor Claytex whose support was invaluable in developing our multibody simulator. Additionally, we appreciate MegaRide - applied vehicle research for their expert consultancy on tire dynamics analysis. With this event we conclude the 2024 season, enjoying the great steps forward made till now and improving from every useful lesson learned during this amazing experience, that will serve as fuel for our future challenges.
