About us
WMG is an academic department at the University of Warwick. Our research and education bridge the gap between academia and the public and private sectors, driving innovation across science, technology and engineering. WMG was founded by the late Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya in 1980 to help reinvigorate UK manufacturing and help businesses overcome barriers to innovation. WMG’s pioneering research and education programmes, in partnership with UK and global business, has helped to transform firms in sectors such as automotive, advanced manufacturing and digital technologies. Our track record makes us the first choice for global businesses looking to invest in new techniques, products and skills that have a real impact on economic growth, society, and the environment. WMG’s education programmes begin with schools, following through to undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our focus is on creating lifelong learning opportunities for global talent in partnership with industry. We provide a range of courses and education programmes, from the WMG Academies for Young Engineers, degree apprenticeships, undergraduate and postgraduate Master’s courses, through to professional programmes and research degrees. WMG’s postgraduate programmes have international reach, with many being offered with global partners, allowing us to share our knowledge with working professionals as well as full-time students in a local industrial and economic context.

Had the great joy to host a brilliant Intelligent Transport Systems UK 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐫-𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 meeting at WMG, University of Warwick. Pleasure to have Prof Sarah Sharples FREng, Chief Scientific Advisor (Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom), as our keynote speaker who provided a strong challenge to us and the wider ITS community on creating concrete tools to implement a user-centered approach to transport design... Followed up with super talks from Mark Collins, Sunil Budhdeo, Aston Brand, and Jacqueline Upton who through case studies provided insights into capturing user-behaviour/expectations & the corresponding intervention design. A common thread was the creation of "Personas". Huge thank you to all the attendees for joining us and their contribution to the discussion and workshop sessions. Lots for us to act on & learn through sharing. As Chair of the forum (together with Aston Brand - Vice Chair), our mission is to allow people to intuitively take a user-centred approach. This behaviour change is our combined mission. Watch this space as we share more... Thank you to Max Sugarman, Rukshan Soysa and the wider ITS UK team for all the support in organising the event... #RealITS #SystemsThinking #UserCentredDesign #Mobility Transport for West Midlands AtkinsRéalis National Highways Coventry City Council University of Warwick

It was great to welcome our friends from Dyson Farming to meet with our Warwick Agri-Tech team and explore how they are combining plant science and engineering to tackle the future of farming. They enjoyed a tour of our world-class facilities, including our International Manufacturing Centre, where they had the chance to chat to those working on the Agri-Tech student project. Our guests also visited the Warwick Crop Centre at our Stratford Innovation Campus, a site with a rich history - originally set up after WWII as the UK’s National Vegetable Research Station to boost food production. Brilliant discussions and exciting opportunities for the future of Agri-Tech.
