What a week! We've just found out that we've received another award nomination, making it two in a week. It's a great honour to be a finalist in the inaugural #TBEAwards. We have been shortlisted in the Best #Creative Campaign category alongside Distinctive Communications Ltd and Jazzbones Creative, both of whom undoubtedly delivered some remarkable and impactful work. Indeed, the judges said, 'the finalists demonstrated a sensitivity and understanding of the needs of both the audiences to be reached and the client’s aims and outputs for their campaigns. Amongst a strong field of entries, these three really stood out for their positive intentions and #influence on their target audiences.' So that's already a ringing endorsement before we've even won ... which we hope to do at the ceremony on 17th October. Watch this space. The terms we use in our #communications carry weight and can influence perceptions. Recent coverage of large public gatherings has used words like "riots" and "looting," but is that always accurate? The language used when reporting on these events matters, as Clearly's Meg Palmer explains in this brilliant analysis: https://lnkd.in/et3CuaQY

It is with more than a twinge of pride that we announce that we've been shortlisted in the UK's most prestigious #PR awards ... we're a finalist for a PRCA UK Award for our work with Baton of Hope UK. Naturally there's some stiff competition for the 'Not-for-Profit and Charity Campaign' of the year from the likes of Taylor Herring (their campaign for OddBalls on Westminster Bridge, raising awareness of testicular cancer, was lovely), Hope&Glory PR, and the Royal Osteoporosis Society, so to be considered amongst these heavyweights is praise indeed. Congratulations to the other finalists in all categories for their sterling work – we mean it, we really do. But we'll still be keeping our fingers crossed come the award ceremony on 19th November for a Clearly PR win!

Great to see St John's Foundation featured in Fundraising UK Ltd's round up of 'products raising funds for good causes' with the launch of its children's book. The Day the Alien Came was written by 192 school children from seven schools in BaNES and is set to help the children’s school libraries, with profits from sales going towards stocking their shelves. A feel-good read for a Friday afternoon: https://lnkd.in/eiaBexV7

This morning we’re at Bath Racecourse and the inaugural #TBEShow, meeting old friends and making new #connections, and hearing from a range of experts on business #growth. Tremendous to see such positivity in the room amongst local #business owners, in terms of future prospects, and the willingness to share insights and #collaborate. Well done to The Business Exchange South West for hosting the event and Anita Jaynes and Sian Swift for pulling it all together, with such impressive contributors and exhibitors. Oh dear, not another one? Yup, this time it is soft drinks company Capri Sun that finds itself in the spotlight for what is a truly bizarre decision: it wants to reintroduce plastic straws. Our Lucie explains all, and reasons that the move does the company no favours and will likely push previously loyal customers away... including said author of this piece. Take a look at what she has to say: https://lnkd.in/ew3t4Dw4

Mind your language: Our Meg has penned an incredible piece about the need for the media - given their responsibility as messengers - to take greater care in how they label news and events. Mis-labelling can be dangerous: https://lnkd.in/et3CuaQY
