🚨 Beware the Payroll Pirates: Mini Umbrellas Are on the Rise 🚨 With Employer National Insurance Contributions (ErNICs) rising in April, some businesses are feeling the pressure to cut costs. Unfortunately, this is leading to the return of mini umbrella companies (MUCs)—a serious compliance risk that could land companies in hot water with HMRC. 🔶 What’s the issue? Mini umbrellas exploit tax loopholes by splitting workers across multiple entities to claim tax breaks. In some cases, they don’t pay the correct taxes at all, leaving businesses and workers exposed. 🔶 Why now? The ErNICs hike from 13.8% to 15% has created a fresh demand for cost-cutting schemes—but engaging with mini umbrellas is not the answer.
