It’s the end of an era for us as we say goodbye to our studio. The space was a huge part of us, soaked in our blood, sweat, and tears. From the parquet flooring we hand-laid brick by brick, to Russ’ wooden wall, and Gary’s iconic blue set—it feels like we’re letting a piece of ourselves go. We’re incredibly grateful for what the studio provided us, especially in the early days when we were just finding our feet. It was more than just a workspace—it was where we built the foundation for Cloudhill Productions. But, as with all things in business, change is inevitable. While we’re closing the door on this chapter, we’re excited to step into new opportunities. It’s only onwards and upwards from here as we grow and move into the next phase of our journey. It all starts with an idea but let’s be honest, everything begins with that one little spark. Whether it’s a new project, an exciting product, or even a business, it usually starts with something like, “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if…?” And boom, the wheels are in motion. But, as we all know, having an idea is the easy part. It’s what comes next that matters. You’ve got to nurture it, tweak it, maybe scrap half of it and rebuild it (because let’s face it, things rarely go exactly to plan). You work on it, push it forward, and slowly but surely, you bring it to life. And then—there it is, standing tall in all its glory! That’s exactly how Cloudhill Productions started back in 2016. After working together on video projects in the Army, we had this moment of clarity—we could actually do this in civvie street! It started as just an idea, but with some hard work (and plenty of coffee), we built it into the business it is today. So, if you’ve got an idea rattling around in your head, don’t sit on it. Take that first step, even if it’s a baby one. Who knows? Have you ever stopped after a few crazy busy weeks and thought, "What just happened?" It’s a blur, right? But then you start listing everything you’ve done, and it hits you… We’ve been all over the place, and it’s been fantastic! Here’s a quick recap: Filming trials in Scotland, dynamic footage, rugged terrains, and fast-paced projects. But honestly, the scenery was unbeatable—and the hotel entertained us with some indoor curling. Who knew? A 300-person conference event, three full days of capturing every key moment, and turning around 2-minute edits within 24 hours. We made sure to showcase the day’s achievements and highlight everything to share later internally. Talk about running on coffee! A Multi-camera shoot for medical training. No pressure here, right? Just helping medical pros share their expertise in real-time, wherever it’s needed. Piece of cake. Tech & innovation showcases on Salisbury Plain, cutting-edge tech showing key customers the future of defence. We’re not saying we’re experts, but we’ve definitely seen some cool stuff! Do you ever pinch yourself and think, "I can't believe I get to do this for a living"? We do. A lot. Also, how many hotels do you know that have a curling rink in the basement? Yeah, that was a new one for us! 😅 More on that twist in a minute… From the rolling hills of Devon to the buzz of Birmingham, and all the way up to the stunning shores of Stranraer, Scotland—and then back down to sunny Devon and Dorset—we’ve definitely put our wheels to the test this week. And let's just say, our new van has been packed to the brim with kit yet still comfy enough to stretch out (and maybe sneak a quick nap) between shoots. It’s been a long week, but a brilliant one—working with fantastic people on some truly exciting projects and all while taking in some of the most breathtaking views the UK has to offer and learning a few interesting facts along the way. On arrival to our hotel in Stranraer, we heard some rather enthusiastic shouting from downstairs—only to find out it was a late-night curling match going on at 10 PM! 🥌 Once we had a drink in hand, we watched all the action from the viewing window in the bar. Unexpected entertainment, but we’ll take it! 😂 And now, as we wrap up the journey, it’s time for a well-deserved weekend to kick back, recharge, and get ready to do it all over again next week.
