🔬 CMAC researcher Faisal Abbas, along with his co-authors, is excited to announce the publication of their latest research paper: 'A Self-Adaptive Fractional-Order PID Controller for Particle Velocity Regulation in a Pneumatic Conveying System'. In this paper, a novel control method is presented that dynamically adjusts the fractional orders of the integral and differential components based on particle velocity errors to prevent blockages and ensure smooth operation. Key highlights include: ✅ Adaptive control using real-time data from electrostatic sensors. ✅ Hyperparameter optimisation via genetic algorithms. ✅ Superior performance over traditional PID controllers in terms of robustness, speed, and stability. Experimental work demonstrated faster settling times, minimal overshoots, and an enhanced response to disturbances, marking a significant step forward in precision control. CMAC heads to Amsterdam for Lab of the Future 2024! Famed for scenic canals, history and a certain cultural vibrancy, the city gave a warm (albeit wet and windy) welcome to the delegation of thought leaders, and scientists all driving digital transformation across the biopharma, R&D, and manufacturing landscape. Through the power of AR, our team were on hand to demonstrate our tableting data factory, a self-driving platform technology for pharma products. Sessions covered insights around optimising lab efficiency, harnessing the power of data and the challenges and opportunities of doing so. It’s safe to say, we’re all dreaming about what’s next for the ‘lab of the future!’ #LotF2024 #ittakesavillage #pharmaceuticalmanufacturing #research #collaboratetoinnovate #cmac #digitaltransformation #amsterdam Lab of the Future Catriona Clark Jonathan Moores Ashley Jackson
