CMB Maintenance were proud to recently sponsor the Cardiff Rugby Schools U11’s team kit for their tournament in Ireland. The squad travelled to Dublin for their annual tournament there where they won 3 of their 4 games as well as the overall competition, coming home with the YC Sports Irish Cup! The players were joined by 100+ adults making the trip over to show their support, including CMB’s Tom and Bertie Borley – father and grandfather to Tommy Borley, who plays for the U11’s side. CMB Maintenance Director, Liam Wozencroft, said: “It was great to contribute to Cardiff Schools U11’s recent tour of Ireland and to support grass roots rugby. I’m proud to sponsor the team and see the CMB Maintenance logo on the tour kit, helping out with a great opportunity for the youngsters and especially little Tommy and the boys coming away with the trophy. Well done all involved.” #csr #socialvalue #community #grassroots

  • We welcomed more special guests to the Fairwater Community Campus site last week, with senior leadership staff and governors from the Western Learning Federation (WLF) and two groups of staff from Cantonian High School coming to visit the site. With Cantonian High School set to be the first building handed over, it gave the teachers a first look at their future teaching spaces. WLF is a federation of Riverbank, Woodlands and Ty Gwyn, three additional needs schools, two of which (Woodlands and Riverbank) will form part of the new Fairwater Community Campus. We’re pleased to be at a stage in this development where we can show the site to those who will occupy these learning spaces, and it’s great to see the excitement as they watch this campus progress. • Following the Phase 1 handover update we delivered last week, we are pleased to bring the first Phase 4 update for the BBC Elstree Television Studios in Borehamwood. This side of the development will be a space largely fitted out with dressing and makeup rooms for the actors that use the studios, as well as the scenery production staff that build the production sets for the likes of EastEnders and Holby City. Phase 4 is served by central air plant throughout with a VRV System in specific areas. In line with Phase 1’s design plan, this area also has been designed to keep M&E services on display upon completion. This assists with coordination in a building with such space restraints and also shows off the quality of work we have carried out throughout construction. This stage of the project, in partnership with Heydon & Carr Ltd and J4 Projects, is due to be fully handed over by the end of April with a few small, phased handovers in between. We look forward to bringing you the full project handover following that. BBC Studios

  • One thing we have always prided ourselves on at CMB is our commitment to the community. Not just words, but real action to help make a difference to the people of South Wales. Whilst recently attending South Wales Sports Grounds 60th Anniversary Event, we met the incredible people at Sparkle Appeal and our Managing Director, Steve Borley, was so taken aback by the charity, he asked to donate £5,000 to show CMB’s support of what they do. This donation will now go directly towards supporting children and young people with disabilities and developmental difficulties across Gwent. Rebecca McDonald, Head of Sparkle Operations, said: “On behalf of everyone at Sparkle, I want to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to CMB. Hearing about your generosity in bidding on auction items and then making the incredible decision to increase your donation to £5,000 truly moved us – it speaks volumes about your kindness and commitment to making a meaningful difference. "For many of these families, our services are the only way they can access meaningful leisure and social opportunities, and the impact of your donation will be felt by so many.” Our staff were blown away on their visit to Sparkle in Newport by not only the quantity and range of facilities/services they have available, but specifically the quality of them. We recommend anyone who hasn’t heard of them before to take a look at their video via the link below - they do some remarkable work! ➡ https://lnkd.in/eaDSCfhk

We were thrilled by the incredible response to #WICWeek last week! 🌟 The stories we shared resonated with so many of you, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going. This week, we’ll be sharing even more inspiring journeys - starting with Esme French at CMB Engineering. 📈 As a Senior Marketing Coordinator, Esme plays a key role behind the scenes, handling everything from social media and content creation to CSR initiatives and loves the variety her role offers. “I’ve been here for a few years now, and seeing a project from start to finish is so rewarding.” Her advice to women thinking about joining construction: “Just go for it. Everyone I’ve worked with has been so welcoming - it’s a fantastic industry to be a part of!” #WomenInConstruction #MarketingInConstruction #Inspiration #WICWeek2025

  • CMB are now close to completion of the final witnessing and commissioning of all systems on the KLA Fitout project in Newport. Major milestones include the handover of manufacturing chase, validation of the cleanrooms, connection of the bulk gas services and cause/effect testing. The project team are working hard to close out final decoration and sparkle cleaning ahead of March’s partial possession dates, with the final areas handing over in April. It’s been great to work closely with the KLA facilities team as they begin early facilitation and hook-up works in preparation for the migration of equipment from the existing facility. We look forward to bringing the handover update soon. #cleanrooms

  • Following the initial visit to BBC Elstree Studios back in October of last year, we have since successfully handed over Phase 1 of the project to our client. The handover photos showcase the design process for the Mechanical and Electrical by leaving the M&E services on display as a centrepiece of the television production facility, rather than the traditional method of hiding them behind ceiling voids. This includes areas such as private offices, meeting rooms, communal staff spaces and editing and dubbing suites. Phase 1 of this complex and large-scale project has come with its challenges, particularly with time constraints, but the BBC were happy with the finished product provided by the CMB team, working in partnership with Heydon & Carr Ltd and Mitie. A Phase 4 project update will follow next week, showcasing the early stages of the next step in this job. #mechanicalengineering #electricalengineering #elstreestudios

  • We recently welcomed some Year 4 students and their teachers from Lansdowne Primary School in Canton, to Fairwater Community Campus. Suited up in their PPE, the children headed out on site providing an opportunity for them to see the construction process first-hand. They also enjoyed a presentation about the development, where they learned about what the three schools will offer including facilities such as a climbing wall, 3G pitches, a sports and wellbeing centre and a dance studio. They were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the site visit and asked lots of questions. Thanks for visiting, Lansdowne Primary! Cardiff Council

  • This week marks both #WomenInConstructionWeek2025 and #InternationalWomensDay, and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the talented and hardworking women who help shape both our company and our industry. At CMB, women play a vital role across all areas of the business, including engineering and site work, health and safety, finance, estimating, commercial services, document control, marketing, maintenance services, office management and more. It’s fair to say in what is typically considered a male-dominated industry, women are instrumental in the infrastructure of CMB. This week we are celebrating all our colleagues across our 4 offices and many different sites up and down the UK. Pictured below are those representing our Cardiff Head Office and Fairwater Community Campus.
