In 2022, we began offering VR training as part of our surgical team training pathway; giving surgical teams increased flexibility to practice their skills setting up #Versius. With our virtual reality offering, our aim was to provide surgeons and surgical teams a more accessible way to train and improve their skills - without needing to access a Versius system or operating room. All they need is our #VR headset and they can practice the skills and exercises at a time and place to suit them. 🦾 A randomized control trial conducted within the All-Wales National Robotic Assisted Surgery Programme found that participants who utilised the immersive virtual reality (IVR) performed tasks independently more frequently and required less physical assistance than e-learning participants - supporting the Programme's priorities to establish a robust National Robotic-Assisted Training Programme with concentration on training and delivery that is cost-effective, portable, and realistic in a resource constrained environment. Great to see the real-world impact our virtual reality training for #Versius is having to make development and training more accessible to surgical teams! 🤖 CMR Surgical’s Versius: the small robot making a big difference in hospitals! 🦾 We’ve proudly been long-term investors of CMR Surgical, the innovators behind the next-generation surgical robot Versius. Recently, Lightrock Partner Umur Hursever chaired a Founders Fireside Chat with CMO & Co-Founder Mark Slack and CTO & Co-Founder Luke Hares at their Versius Innovation Day. The event covered its invention to its impact on robotic-assisted keyhole surgery worldwide. 🏥 Surgeons from across the globe shared inspiring stories about how Versius, with its small and modular design, is transforming hospitals and surgical practices. The discussions were not only insightful, but also highlighted the bright future of surgical robots. 🌟 Our partnership with the Cambridge-based global medical devices company has spanned 8 amazing years, and we are thrilled about the future innovations and successes ahead.
