📢 Delivery round-up after a busy week! 🟣 Friday 18th October, Stacey Salt facilitated an in-person session, Diversity and Inclusion. The Co-op National Members' Council (NMC) recently participated in a session exploring the meaning of belonging and its significance. The session focused on connecting co-operative values with the appreciation of diversity, to understand how values like caring, equity, and solidarity are practiced, and learning how to truly value and listen to the voices of others. 🔵 Monday 21st October, Stacey Salt and Catherine Darby Assoc. CIPD facilitated a study visit group from Sicoob Brazil. They engaged in a session focused on co-operative values in a leadership context, and how these contribute to effective governance. They also explored strategies to integrate those values and principles into leadership practices for a sustainable future. It was great to incorporate the International Year of Co-operatives 2025 #IYC2025 into the content, adding that extra layer of #CooperativeIdentity. The group also participated in the renowned talk and tour at the Rochdale Pioneers Museum, facilitated by Liz McIvor from the #CooperativeHeritageTrust. 🟢 Wednesday 22nd October, Catherine Darby Assoc. CIPD facilitated a online openly recruited values-based session, the group delved into the meaning of confidence. Participants explored techniques for building confidence in various situations, focusing on integrity and trust-building, and reflected on their own confidence to analyse potential areas for development. 🟡 Appreciation to all the partners, participants and members we have worked with this week and our wonderful team at the college who help navigate all the work that happens behind the scenes. What an inspiring few days with Fremia from Sweden! Their study visit was a journey through the fascinating world of co-operatives. From historical roots in Rochdale with Liz McIvor at the Pioneers Museum to the innovative practices of today at Co-op Angel Square with David Knight, they gained valuable insights into the power of co-operation. Interactive sessions facilitated by Catherine Darby Assoc. CIPD and Stacey Salt, explored early co-operation through to the modern-day movement. They participated in the co-operative quarter walking tour in Manchester, experiencing the rich history of the movement. Presentations by leading co-op voices like Rebecca Harvey (Co-op News) and Emma Laycock (Co-operatives UK) made for a truly enriching learning experience. The group was captivated by the stories of the Rochdale Pioneers and their vision of a fairer society. The study visit was a great opportunity for Fremia to learn from experts in the field of co-operation. They were able to ask questions, share their own experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of the co-operative movement. The group left the visit with a renewed appreciation for the power of co-operation to create a more just and sustainable world. Huge appreciation to everyone involved in the visit, especially to our very own Jessica Rule who goes above and beyond for the study visits to happen, from the planning, organising and being present to support them. #CooperativeLearning #StudyVisit #CooperativeMovement #GlobalMovement #LifelongLearning

Happy 🇵🇭Philippine-British🇬🇧 Friendship Day! Today, we celebrate our friends and fellow co-operators from the Philippines. Our close working relationship spans study tours, online learning, and the recent masters-level module in co-operative leadership – in partnership with the University of Dundee School of Business. It’s always a pleasure to work with colleagues and learners from CLIMBS Life and General Insurance Cooperative Official and the Co-operative College of the Philippines (CCP) who all have such passion for co-operation, and enthusiasm to learn. Here’s to many more years of collaboration.

Thank you Jessica Rule, Catherine Darby and Stacey Salt, Co-operative College for this exiting first day of inspiration.

CEO @ The Co-operative College I Advocate for collaboration and co-operation to empower thriving communities everywhere

What a privilege to join so many co-operators at the Co-op Party's Co-operative Change event on Saturday. The message was consistent from all speakers - including Jonathan Reynolds MP, the first Co-operative Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, and PAUL WAUGH, Rochdale's first Co-operative MP: together we *will* double the size of the co-op and mutual sector. The commitment to enable this through improving access to finance and grass roots support came through, however education was largely missing from the discussion this Saturday. We know that we have the support of the Co-operative Party to get #CoopsontheCurriculum and we will be following up to ensure this critical component is not overlooked in the bid to achieve Co-operative growth. Other highlights included hearing from Becky Gittins MP and Sarah Boyack MSP, to learn more about co-operation in the devolved nations. And a heads-up from Robin Fieth that 2025 will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the first ever Building Society, as well as the #UNYearofCooperation so we will enjoy a very big year next year! Thanks to Emma Hoddinott and Joe Fortune and colleagues for a great day, and all colleagues and friends at the event, great to connect. Co-operative College

A brilliant week at the college, over on the learning team there has been lots of course development taking place for upcoming workshops, October is becoming a very busy month for all our staff. On Tuesday Amanda Benson and Catherine Darby Assoc. CIPD facilitated the UK Co-operative Sector workshop for the National Members Council of the Co-op. The session focused on the background to the history and development of the UK #CooperativeMovement before taking a deep dive into the movement today. Participants discussed a range of examples that demonstrate the diversity of the UK movement before heading into a though-provoking reflection and discussion to examine what the future holds. Huge appreciation to everyone who attended for asking brilliant questions, interacting with each other to share experiences and build on knowledge. Judging from the feedback, everyone learnt so much, including the tutors who are always open to the exchange of new information and ideas. We look forward to seeing more from the NMC in a few weeks, when Stacey Salt and Cat Darby will be facilitating Diversity and Inclusion in Action. #CooperativeLearning #UKCooperation #LifelongLearning
