We are so proud to be one of the sponsors for the Tandridge District Council Business Awards 2024 tonight at Lingfield Park Resort . Yvonne has done such a wonderful job of putting on a top drawer event to celebrate the success of so many inspiring Tandridge businesses. We have had singing and dancing and close-up magic, along with wonderful food and drink and even TV legend Sir Richard Stilgoe on hosting duties!

Since Brexit, UK goods exports have taken a significant hit, experiencing their sharpest five-year decline ever. Between 2018 and 2023, export volumes dropped by 7.4%. Further to this, there has been a noticeable dip in foreign direct investment projects in areas like creative industries and communications, according to the Financial Times. Experts suggest that the new Labour government should focus on negotiating more favourable trade deals, investing in innovation and digital infrastructure, and providing better support for businesses to navigate the new trade landscape. The British Chambers of Commerce emphasise, “Now is the time to ramp up efforts on trade digitisation and make trade cheaper, faster, and simpler for trading companies, especially for small companies who feel the pain and burden of trade bureaucracy the most.” We would be interested to hear what our partners and stakeholders think about this, from SMEs who are exporting, to supply chain businesses, logistics, carriers, freight operators, and UK airport and port operators.

With the likely requirement for local growth plans across the country, our team hosted and delivered a webinar session on developing economic strategies under the new Labour Government. If you were unable to make it or would like to hear more about the content of this session then please get in touch with us.

Over the past 13 years, we have made some remarkable achievements for the benefit of businesses and communities, working across the public, private, third and education sectors. There were brave and bold decisions taken by the Coast to Capital Board and championed by the team and our partners. Many of these projects would simply never have happened without our support and intervention. One of many examples included Coast to Capital’s incredible work during Covid in launching a fund to support businesses to pivot and survive. This is not an end to our story. We will continue to support economic growth and development in the region, and we would welcome any discussions with you on potential collaborations or ideas.
