🌡️ Did you know that temperature control in an office can impact productivity? We’ve all been in that office where the air-con is cranked up so high that you are shivering in your coat on a scorching summer’s day, which is far from productive! Here are a few tips on how you can go about maintaining an optimal temperature to ensure employees feel focused and alert: 🔷 Invest in a high-quality HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system to ensure pleasant office temperatures all year round.  🔶 Provide staff access to natural ventilation by opening windows and doors. 🔷 Encourage breaks outside, so employees return with renewed vigour. 🔶 Consider improving the air quality with purifiers fitted with HEPA filters, or by incorporating plants – specifically Spider Plants, which according to a NASA study, removed 95 per cent of toxic air from a sealed chamber in 24 hours. Are you looking to design a green lab? The key to success is early stakeholder engagement 🔬 It can be challenging for labs to achieve a green status given how energy intensive they are... ✨ However, there are a few tips that can help: ➡️ Include as many stakeholders as possible in your sustainability strategy to fully understand how each department can help. ➡️ If it’s a new build lab, ensure sustainability is prioritised from the outset in design and fittings, with eco goals set for various stages of the build. ➡️ Each member of the laboratory has a part to play so educate staff on best practice to save energy. Speaking to the right person and getting the brief down accurately early on is key.
