Circularity is coming. But inevitability doesn’t guarantee profitability. Knowing you need to change isn’t the same as knowing how to do it. Research shows that launching new circular business models brings a number of major threats: 💣 High up-front costs 💣 Lack of regulatory support 💣 Technological / innovation barriers 💣 Consumer demand uncertainty 💣 Impact on revenue and margin It’s no wonder that the idea of transforming tried-and-tested linear models is frightening to many successful senior executives. What’s the best way forward? Join our panelists, Patricia Wyst, Will Ghali and Tahir Naqvi as they discuss how innovative companies are already overcoming the real challenges of circularity. Last week, the team came together for our annual 'Auction of Promises'. This was in aid of Centrepoint, our chosen charity, who help support young people in the UK who are at risk of or facing homelessness. We had some fantastic lot items up for grabs, including 🍰🥞bakes for the office, 🛎️🛎️Leadership Team butler services, volunteering for a charity, and even 👗👚👔handmade tailored clothing items! These were auctioned off through the day and topped off with somewhat of a Cognosis tradition - the 👍👎thumbwar. Reigning champion Josh Wagner lost his reign to a worthy new champion Misha Brinkley 🏆! A little bit of fun but all in the spirit of doing our bit for worthwhile cause. A huge thank you to all who donated, and for continuing to support Centrepoint in their mission to change lives. Let’s keep up the momentum! #doingourbit #teamspirit

🌟 Teamwork, Strategy, and Celebration! 🌟 Last week, the Cognosis team took a day out to reflect on our progress, plan for the future, and celebrate our achievements from the past six months. First up was spending time together as a business reviewing priorities and targets for the rest of the year, ensuring we're aligned for a strong finish in 2024. But it wasn't all work! 🎳 We followed up with an afternoon of competitive bowling, where everyone's team spirit and sporting prowess were on full display! We then capped off the day with pizza, karaoke, and plenty of laughs. It was a fantastic way to recharge and connect outside of the office. Here's to an exciting Q4 – big things are on the horizon! 🚀 A massive thanks to Una Acton Assoc CIPD and Misha Brinkley for all their help and preparation for the day. #StrategyReview #TeamBuilding #CelebratingSuccess

Competitive intelligence doesn’t mean following others. "It means thinking about your own strategy from a fresh perspective and exploring new ideas that make sense for your business." This viewpoint was shared by Verónica Gómez Zalazar, Marketing Director at AB InBev, during one of our CognosisLive events “Rethink your competition: How to win in a world of disruption”: https://lnkd.in/eCbCEe52 Tell us - What does #competitiveintelligence mean to you?

Is gut instinct clouding your decision making? Cognitive biases can often lead to flawed judgments based on incomplete information. Our brains naturally look for quick links and simple causal explanations – but these can prove too easy to be true. To overcome these biases, competitive intelligence plays a vital role. By systematically benchmarking competitors with objective fact finding and regular updates (rather than a once-off exercise), leaders can make more informed decisions grounded in facts rather than intuition. Competitor Benchmarking, done right, is a powerful tool to keep our brains honest and our business strategies sharper. https://lnkd.in/eyc8YT_A #cognitivebias #competitorbenchmarking

When the playing field becomes much bigger, how are you keeping tabs on threats, protecting your market position, and identifying new opportunities to innovate and collaborate with the aim of sustainable growth This means shifting from a limited focus on competitor intelligence to competitive intelligence. That may sound like semantics, but it means your business will survey both expected and unexpected sources of danger. This can be tackled by exploring 3 distinct breeds of competition: 🕵️♂️ Core: These are your traditional, same-sector competitors that certainly need monitored, but risk drawing you into a state of complacency, as they see the world through a similar lens. 🕵️♂️ Differentiated: A newcomer disruptor that answers the customer problem in a superior and different way. 🕵️♂️ Transformational: These competitors bring in a totally new business model that gives the consumer something so different that the status quo is forced to change rapidly or subside. They revolutionise or entirely replace the consumer need your business is based on. When the playing field becomes much bigger, how are you keeping tabs on threats, protecting your market position, and identifying new opportunities to innovate? https://lnkd.in/ec6vDRnR

Over the past few months, we have had two well-earned promotions: Saskia Rubin successfully completed our Graduate Programme and has subsequently been promoted to Consultant this summer. Having made a career pivot to consulting, Saskia quickly adapted to switching focus between our diverse portfolio of clients, projects and industries. We asked Saskia to reflect on what’s next… “At Cognosis, we are constantly in talks with new and exciting businesses. Broadening my knowledge through exposure to a widening range of clients is something I am particularly looking forward to.” We are also delighted to celebrate the promotion of Laura Randall-smith to Strategy Manager. Laura joined us 3.5 years ago having begun her strategy journey working in-house for a well-known retail brand. Her first-rate project delivery has delighted clients including some of the world’s leading brands within Drinks and Retail, and is testament to why her promotion is so well deserved. What keeps Laura motivated? "I love the people, culture, and variety of work at Cognosis – we have an exciting pipeline of new client work and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this." It’s wonderful to see our people develop and progress in their careers through the business. Congratulations to you both of you!
