In this episode of 'On the Sofa with' Collas Crill Partner Wayne Atkinson talks to Senior Associate Amy Davies about Collas Crill's white collar crime practice in Guernsey. 'No one ever thinks that they are going to require my assistance', explains experienced criminal lawyer Amy. 'A large proportion of the people I meet have no intention of breaking the law and definitely don't think they need the services of a criminal defence lawyer.' From how "real life" varies from the movies to how the arrest process works and the things to be aware of when speaking to financial regulators such as the FIU or the GFSC, Wayne and Amy discuss the possibility of how those working in the financial services sector may not intend to commit a crime, but may still find themselves engaged with the police for one reason or another - and why engaging with a lawyer is never a bad idea. 'What amazes me is the level of reticence people have in reaching our for criminal defence advice at the earliest opportunity. I think there is a real concern that if you ask you to speak to lawyer, you will be admitting to doing something wrong - that is not the case.'
