Are you a professional who supports Carers in Highland? Our Highland Carers Professional Network (HCPN) was created to provide a space for all those who support Carers and/or their families to come together to collaborate, strengthen partnerships, share ideas, problem solve and to ensure Carers are valued, recognised and supported within all communities across Highland. Our next meeting will be taking place in November. This quarter’s theme is around the Young Carer Statement, Transitions and Carers Rights Day. The Young Carer Statement is a vital tool for ensuring that Young Carers receive the recognition and support they need to thrive both in their caring role and personal life. It is essential because: - it provides a clear picture of the Young Carers responsibilities and the impact on their daily life and wellbeing - the statement helps to tailor support to the Young Carers specific needs and goals, ensuring they receive the right help to balance their caring duties with education and personal development - allows Young Carers to express their aspirations and any challenges they face, helping professionals to plan effective support strategies - ensures schools and other institutions recognise the Young Carers role and provide appropriate accommodations and support Our meetings are held on a quarterly basis, and we would be delighted if you would share with us how you would like the HCPN to develop and support you in your role. To support Carers in Highland throughout their caring journey
About us
We work with unpaid Carers every day and have learned a great deal from them. We use this knowledge, and our position as the Highland Carer Centre, to ensure that unpaid Carers in Highland are not caring alone, that they are acknowledged and supported, and that they have access to the information they need to enable them to carry out their caring role. Based in Dingwall, our team covers Highland from Caithness and Sutherland in the north to Lochaber in the South. Please contact the centre on 01463 723575, or call our Carer Support Line on 01463 723560 for help and advice.
