About us

A Constructing Excellence club is a forum for individuals and companies to learn about the principles of best practice while creating a culture of continuous improvement. The Sussex Club offers the opportunity to meet informally and network with other construction consultants, contractors, suppliers and clients on all levels to learn from each other and ultimately improve business and the construction industry. Our local club is voluntarily run for the benefit of its members and we encourage everyone to have an input.

View profile for John Smith MCIAT, graphic

Architecture & Sustainability Director. Chartered Architectural Technologist, Principal Designer for High Risk Buildings (PDBR-HRB). Designing for construction, detailing for contractors, architects and developers.

All I seem to do is talk to people about the 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝘁 at the moment and it's requirements, (as I'm one of only a handful of registered Principal Designers for High Risk Buildings in the UK and I'm also on the Assessor Panel for Principal Designers), If you are interested in the Act, how it's impacting the construction industry and the design process, do come along to the next Constructing Excellence Sussex Club Event. It's going to be a good one looking at the impact on the design process (HRB and LRB), Golden Thread implementation, Experience of getting through the Gateways and a legal perspective of the Act. (Wednesday 30th October so book it in) https://lnkd.in/ePAVXD9a #buildingsafetyact #HRB #BuildingControl #Design #PDBR #PrincipalDesigner

  • The next event for the Constructing Excellence Sussex Club is coming up soon!   This will be a site visit to Moda Living at Hove Central kindly offered by Midgard Ltd, on 29th May, to see the work in progress as well as some of the completed units.   It is a really exciting development, breathing life into a prime piece of brownfield land on the Sackville Road Trading Estate, to create a thriving new rental community of more than 800 homes. It also represents the largest planning contributions deal Hove has seen from a private company in more than a decade.   It's sure to be a fascinating visit - find out more or book tickets at: https://lnkd.in/eEX8Z7QG
