🏘️Get involved – National Social Housing Safety & Compliance Week – 18-22 November 2024 👇 The ASCP are pleased to bring back National Social Housing Safety & Compliance Week for its 4th year. For this year’s National Social Housing Safety & Compliance Week, sponsored by CORGI Technical Services the focus will be on the theme ‘Together for Safety’ continuing the mission of uniting all stakeholders to enhance safety and compliance in social housing.  There are four key strands for ‘Together for Safety’: 👉  Together with Residents - Engaging with residents to amplify their voices and support them in maintaining safe homes. 👉 Together as a Sector - Collaborating with peers, contractors, and suppliers to tackle common challenges, share best practices, and elevate safety standards. 👉 Together with Colleagues - Promoting cross-departmental cooperation within organisations to prioritise safety in all operations. 👉 Together with Legislators - Working within the new regulatory landscape to ensure compliance and enhance safety measures. The week is made up of eight online sessions which are free to attend. The agenda is varied and covers topics such as: 👉 Emerging Legislation: How to stay compliant 👉 Navigating the Building Safety Act: Impacts, Implications, and the Latest Developments for Landlords 👉 Procurement as a Team Game: How to integrate safety & compliance with effective procurement 👉 Innovative Solutions for Damp & Mould: Empowering Teams & Communities Participants are encouraged to get involved by attending sessions, sharing their logo on the supporter's wall, and engaging with the provided toolkit. The aim is to foster a collective effort towards creating safer, more compliant social housing environments. ⚠️🚨 We cannot stress enough the importance of carbon monoxide alarms in your home.  Here's a poignant example of how they save lives 👇 A self-employed roofer has recently been sentenced after leaving a gas appliance flue in an immediately dangerous condition when he removed a chimney stack from a property back in March 2019. An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the roofer had failed to make any proper or meaningful enquiries into what gas appliances were fluing through the chimney he was working on. Had the elderly lady in the neighbouring property not had carbon monoxide alarms installed, this would be a completely different story.
