Through their teacher training programme, The Black Curriculum is equipping educators with the skills and resources to teach it. This time last week we were getting ready to host the latest of our Coveted Conversations, a series of monthly chats for the Special Events industry enabling us to make new connections and think differently about our events. We were so excited to work with Discreet Events Ltd on this special evening and were overwhelmed by their hospitality and creative menus (along with stunning florals as always from Pinstripes & Peonies Ltd). After enjoying the last of the summer sunshine on the terrace at Mission Kitchen (a shared workspace for caterers with testing kitchens), we talked to two of Discreet's Co-Founders, Eva Berntsson and Ruari McCulloch, about their new venture and how we can use sustainable practices in the planning of our events. We love Discreet's 'nose to tail' approach and felt incredibly privileged to experience their incredible food. 🔦 Spotlight on: LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) Before the summer, we had the honour of working with LAMDA on the delivery of their Transformation Gala, held in the breathtaking space at Tate Modern. The evening was hosted by LAMDA President, Benedict Cumberbatch, with unforgettable performances throughout the evening showcasing the institution's wealth of fantastic talent both on stage, screen and behind-the-scenes. The event raised a gross of £500,000 towards LAMDA's work and to find arts scholarships. Today we brought together partners from all over the six flagship #Homewards locations to celebrate one year of progress.    Over the past 12 months, we have built the foundations to generate systems change. We've brought together hundreds of organisations and individuals to form six local Coalitions and formed unprecedented partnerships to support our flagship locations to identify priorities and move to focus on prevention.    Prince William and The Royal Foundation founded Homewards to demonstrate that it is possible to end homelessness, making it rare, brief & unrepeated.     Find out more about what Homewards have achieved: https://lnkd.in/exWRBVtK

We’ve been talking a lot about the “perfect pledge moment” at fundraising dinners – the events that build their content towards a powerful ask, resulting in every guest feeling compelled to give in some capacity, generating hundreds of thousands of pounds for the organisation. As events consultants, we’ve also witnessed the moments that haven’t gone to plan… Next Tuesday 2 July, we’re hosting the next in our series of informal Coveted Conversations, talking about the learnings and the challenges and how we create those “Holy sh**” fundraising moments – the good ones! As a team we work with over 20 charities on their fundraising galas, and our sister company EMMA Live is involved with over 300 events each year – together we’ll chat through some of our experiences, alongside other events managers from our community.
