It's #AntiSlaveryDay, a time to raise awareness about modern slavery and its affront to human dignity. In Northern Ireland, a comprehensive approach to prevention, victim protection, prohibition, and pursuing perpetrators is crucial to combating it. In CJI's 2020 Inspection, we called for a stronger strategy and this year the Department of Justice NI released a 3-year plan. CJI supports ongoing monitoring to ensure a real impact on victim protection and the fight against modern slavery. ➡️ If you want to know more about the Inspection Report, visit: https://lnkd.in/esHhQuYN ➡️ If you want to learn more about the Department of Justice Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Strategy 2024-27, visit: https://lnkd.in/eCmCsGsZ. ➡️ If you suspect someone is a victim of modern slavery or human trafficking, contact the police on 101 or 999 in an emergency or call the Modern Slavery Helpline on 0800 0121 700
About us
CJI is an independent statutory inspectorate with responsibility for inspecting all aspects of the criminal justice system in Northern Ireland apart from the judiciary. It also inspects a number of other agencies and organisations that link into the criminal justice system. It endeavours through its work to secure improvement and promote greater co-operation between the various statutory and voluntary organisations to provide a better justice system for the whole community in Northern Ireland. CJI is also one of four designated organisations in Northern Ireland involved with the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) which ensures the rights of those in places of detention such as prisons and police custody. All of CJI’s activities are subject to a Quality Management System which is independently audited and certified to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standard.

We recognise that personal and professional challenges impact the wellbeing of staff in the criminal justice system. This year's theme for #WorldMentalHealthDay highlights the importance of workplace wellbeing, a topic we've addressed in previous Inspection Reports related to the criminal justice system. It is crucial that staff have access to wellbeing initiatives to ensure they are supported, while leaders must make decisions that drive transformation, maintain quality services and implement policies that promote team wellbeing. ➡️ If you're interested in our Inspection of Leadership Development and Wellbeing Support within the criminal justice system in Northern Ireland, visit: https://lnkd.in/epTk_gan #WMHD2024
