🎂 Commencing their second day of engagements, Their Majesties visited Limavady. The King and Queen met members of the the local community and witnessed a demonstration of local produce at Hunter’s Bakery, before visiting Roe Valley Arts and Culture Centre. 🐴 Next at Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil, His Majesty spoke with local farmers and representatives from a Regenerative Farming Leadership Programme. Meanwhile, The Queen met with members of the Kane family and staff at the leading rapeseed oil business. 🥼 At Ulster University in Coleraine, His Majesty met with scientists, researchers and students at the education facility’s cancer research centre. ☂️🎭 On their first engagement, The King and Queen visited Belfast’s popular Cathedral Quarter, meeting with representatives from the local tourism sector, business, hospitality and the arts. ⚽ Later, His Majesty The King visited Newforge Sports Complex and Event Hub, learning more about the positive impact of the facility for officers, and the successful cross-community links that have been developed and maintained through sport. 👶 At the Atlas Women’s Centre in Lisburn, Her Majesty The Queen met with staff and volunteers at the community building. The Queen also spoke to those who benefit from Atlas’ services and programmes, including courses, workshops, counselling, childcare and support groups. Yesterday evening, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Hilary Benn, attended the British Embassy Washington’s reception to celebrate Ulster University’s award as University of the Year in UK and Ireland. While there, he spoke with Professor Paul Bartholomew, Vice-Chancellor of Ulster University and Dr Jenny Pyper, Chair of Ulster University about the university’s work in Northern Ireland and beyond.
