South Wales construction firm fined for “Catalogue of failures”. The HSE determined that the company had failed to heed enforcement notices regarding the safe excavation of an entire back garden. The HSE served both a Prohibition Notice and two Improvement Notices, all of which were ignored. The managing director also falsified information relating to the notices in an attempt to deceive the HSE. The company was fined £40,000 and £5,812.57 in costs at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court.
