Excellent Care for All

About us

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is a modern healthcare organisation providing acute and community health services across the borough of Croydon. Our main hospital site, Croydon University Hospital has one of the busiest emergency units in London, 13 operating theatres and more than 500 beds. We’re also leading the way in providing more healthcare outside hospitals at clinics, specialist centres and in people’s homes. Our hospitals Croydon University Hospital, in the north of Croydon has a brand new Accident and Emergency department serving around 400 adults and children a day. The building cost more than £21million to construct and offers modern, high-quality facilities. It has been designed by our doctors and nurses to create the best environment in which to care for patients. CUH also offers a maternity unit, wards and operating theatres and we provide the full range of in-patient and out-patient clinical services as well as working closely with nearby specialist units to support patients with more complex conditions. Purley War Memorial Hospital, in the south of the borough, offers a number of outpatient services including clinics, x-rays and blood tests. Our community services Our community health services care for patients of all ages, out of hospital and close to home. From the very young to the very old our nursing, therapy and specialist children’s services reach every corner of the borough and every local resident. With increasing integration across our services, the line between ‘acute’ and ‘community’ is becoming increasingly blurred. We want to give patients a seamless experience, care for them when and where it’s comfortable for them and work closely with social care colleagues to ensure that health and care needs are equally addressed. Our 3,500 staff work every day of the year to provide services for a population of over 380,000 people You can see a full list of our services at: www.croydonhealthservices.nhs.uk/our-services/

Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. Over 100,000 children and adults use Makaton, and it’s the UK’s leading language programme primarily used by adults and children with learning or communication difficulties. Makaton is based on British Sign Language (BSL - the language of the deaf community) but is always used in conjunction with speech. • Mabuhay! 🌴 Our Race Equality Network brought a little piece of the Philippines directly to Croydon at CHS’s first EVER ‘Filipino Fiesta’ 🎊 It was a great way of saying ‘thank you’ to all of our Filipino staff for the valuable contributions they’ve made not only to our Trust, but to the NHS entirely. What a fantastic way to celebrate Croydon’s diversity and round off #SouthAsianHeritageMonth 🙌
