This is fantastic news - it is great to have this recognition from the RICS of the social value of working with CRT Property and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. We are delighted to see CRT Hwb Cana in Penywaun win the Community Benefit award for Wales in the RICS Awards 2024 and look forward to seeing them fly the flag for Wales in the UK awards in the Autumn!
We are absolutely delighted that CRT Hwb Cana has won the Community Benefit Award for Wales from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)! It’s amazing to be recognised for the benefits CRT Hwb Cana is delivering for the people of Penywaun and we could not have won this award without the support of the community which we are proud to serve. This what the judges had to say: “This small project, delivered through the charitable Coalfields Regeneration Trust, has taken a former derelict chapel in the small village of Penywaun, Aberdare and transformed it into an exemplar community asset in an area of significant depravation. The small team worked relentlessly in securing a range of funding opportunities with which to translate their vision into a reality whilst taking both the local and wider communities on every step of the journey. “The judges found the visit to the centre, meeting with some of the centre’s users, and speaking with some of its tenants – including Smart Money Cymru Community Bank which has established a base at Hwb Cana. An important element of the success of this project has been the depth and breadth of engagement with the community in order to understand their needs and ensure these were the primary deliverables from the project. Whilst not attached to their application, staff at Hwb Cana shared a detailed stakeholder engagement plan which set out the approach towards securing the faith, respect and trust of the local community. “This is a small project that is delivering results and benefits that are significant in the context of those benefitting from the support services through this initiative.” We could not do what we do without our partners – Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Welsh Government, the UK Government Wales/Llywodraeth DU Cymru, Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Interest Company and General Dynamics UK Limited and we’d like to thank them for all of their support! We’ll be representing Wales in the RICS UK Awards in the Autumn so keep your fingers crossed for us!

It's been a fantastic few days at UKREiiF for CRT Property - we've spoken to many people about how we can add social value to larger developments. Our Managing Director Shaun O'Brien reflects on the success of UKREiiF and how it's becoming an essential part of our calendar. A huge thank you to Matt Christie and Nathan Spencer for all their hard work and continued support of CRT Property and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

We're enjoying day two of UKREiiF (despite the weather!) and having positive conversations about generating social value and delivering the 'S' in ESG. CRT Property acts as a complement to other developers - with a relatively small piece of land we can deliver a significant social impact. Our development in Mansfield is a single unit but provides space for an SME food manufacturer - creating jobs and economic growth - while also providing funding to deliver social value in the East Midlands through the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

Join us at the Newsroom Stage of UKREiiF at 1pm today. Kevin Larkin, Head of Policy & Communications for CRT Property and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust will be on the "Reimagining Urban Sites As the Sustainable, Mixed-Use Communities of Tomorrow" panel. Kevin will be part of a panel with range of expert knowledge on regeneration - chaired by Peyrouz Modarres with fellow panellists Laura Percy, Roger Madelin, Penny Cameron and Simon Delahunty-Forrest. We'll look forward to seeing you there at #UKREiiF!

Ahead of tomorrow's UKREiiF conference, our Managing Director Shaun O'Brien writes about how CRT Property can help deliver the 'S' in ESG.

With only a few days to UKREiiF we're looking forward to meeting faces old and new to discuss how we can complement major developments by adding social value. Our Weeland Park development in Kellingley is a great example of this. We were pleased to work with Harworth Group plc and later Cole Waterhouse to obtain the land for Weeland Park. Thanks to capital funding from ERDF and Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) (West Yorkshire Combined Authority/Tracy Brabin) we were able to maximise the social value to support former coalfield communities through the charitable work of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.

CRT Property is proud to act as a complement to larger developers to support their ESG objectives. We're a property company with a difference - putting the 'S' in ESG as our rental income delivers social value through funding the charitable work of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust - supporting people in some of Britain's most deprived and overlooked communities. Watch the video below to find out more about our model - and if you'd like to know more then let's meet at UKREiiF in Leeds next week.

Our Managing Director Shaun O'Brien is attending UKREiiF in #Leeds next week. It's the third year CRT Property has been at this industry leading event and it's a great opportunity to talk to developers about we can act as a complement to their projects while supporting delivery of their ESG goals. A huge thank you to the UKREiiF team especially Matt Christie and Nathan Spencer for their continuing support of CRT Property and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. See you in Leeds!
