Why Apprenticeships Reset Will Unlock New Opportunities As we dive into a new school year, young people are beginning to consider the next steps in their careers. While university remains a popular choice, it's crucial to recognise that it's not the only option available. In fact, recent research indicates that just 7% of 18-24 year-olds are aware of alternatives such as apprenticeships, leaving a huge gap in potential opportunities. A significant number of young people are missing out on apprenticeships due to a lack of awareness. According to the Office for National Statistics, there's been a 10% rise in NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) year-over-year. This gap in knowledge is something the new Labour government is keen to address through the launch of Skills England, aiming to introduce foundation apprenticeships that offer real benefits to both young people and employers. At CT Skills, we believe in the transformative power of apprenticeships 🌟. Not only do they provide young people with valuable hands-on experience, but they also help companies address skill shortages. We work closely with the Department for Education to ensure our programmes meet the ever-evolving demands of the job market, offering flexible and accessible pathways to a rewarding career. Whether you're looking to start your career, upskill, or transition to a new field, apprenticeships provide a versatile and enriching journey that's viable for people of all ages. We encourage everyone to explore these opportunities and consider apprenticeships as a credible alternative to traditional academia. I googled the budget on my Samsung S24… Got so upset that I grabbed a Starbucks before taking an Amazon delivery… Quickly checked Facebook and ran home in my Nike trainers whilst listening to Gary Barlow’s greatest hits on my Air Pods... Sat on my stylish Ikea chair… nearly choked on my Nestle chocolate. Why was I so upset? Why did Rachel Reeves kick CT Skills square in the shins with an aggressive National Insurance rise? An innocent, tax-paying SME like CT Skills? Why didn’t she go after the huge corporates making millions of pounds of profits? Because the likes of Google, Apple, Samsung and Amazon avoid paying their share of corporation tax by moving their profits to more fiscally advantageous corners of the globe. They pretend they don’t make any money here. We know it’s not the case. Otherwise there wouldn’t be a brand new Starbucks popping up down the road or a Maccies refurb taking place on every retail park in the land. It means the government simply has no tax vehicle to target profit making companies. Because they’re hiding it. And we feed it by buying their products. Raising employer NI contributions and raising National Minimum Wage are payroll taxes. Totally unavoidable. The more staff you employ, the more you pay. It’s hugely unfair on companies who trade honestly and pay their corporation tax every year. But it’s now the only way to snare the profit shifters. Like most businesses on here, the rise in National Insurance is going to hit us pretty hard. It’s a blow we didn’t need but, as ever, we’ll find a way. Most of our recruitment going forward will likely be apprentices under the age of 25 for whom you don’t pay Class 1 National Insurance contributions. CT Skills can also provide you with a Payroll Apprentice to help you navigate what’s changing, when and how. In the meantime, I’m off to shop with local SMEs and listen to some Gary Barlow B-sides. You can’t tell me he’s been dodging his fair share of tax. Oh…. #Budget #Nationalinsurance #NeverForget #CouldItBeTragic

It's Men's Mental Health Month! 💙 Let's talk about something incredibly important: Men's Mental Health. No one should feel alone or helpless. Statistics reveal that men are less likely to seek help for mental health issues, with a report from the Mental Health Foundation noting that around 40% of men don't talk to anyone about their feelings. This needs to change. At CT Skills, we have always prioritised the mental health of our learners and staff. Our commitment goes beyond training and education; it includes fostering an environment of empathy and support. This month, let's remind our colleagues, friends, and loved ones that it's okay to ask for help. Sharing experiences and struggles can be incredibly empowering and can make a huge difference. Let's support each other in breaking the stigma. Engage with your colleagues, friends, and family and take a moment to ask how they are doing. Sometimes, the smallest gestures carry the most significant meaning. To help understand this subject more, we offer a Men's Mental Health free online course. Contact us today at 0115 959 9544 or visit our website: https://lnkd.in/eURbexcq #MensMentalHealthMonth #MentalHealth #MensMentalHealth #Support #Movember
