My 2am Business Pitch.
In business, the best deals very seldom get done in the boardroom.
I often host a ‘Cheap Thursday Club’ at my apartment. It’s a great evening. We invite some of my favourite founders to my London home to eat, drink and share stories, knowledge and experience.
I hosted one back in June and by midnight, the crowd had thinned out, and I found myself with Chris van der Kuyl CBE, Ryan Peterson and Georgia Toffolo drinking BrewDog beers at our kitchen table.
As you do when you’re a few beers deep, we started talking about this tech business idea I had - Social Tip.
Queenie, my amazing assistant, looked bemused when I started pulling the presentation TV out of the cupboard at 1AM.
By 2AM I’d taken Chris and Ryan through the entire investment deck at my kitchen table.
By 2.30 AM, we had a deal for them both to invest in Social Tip. Which, of course, we celebrated with a few more beers.
Any aspiring entrepreneur should always be in pitch mode. There are opportunities everywhere.
I am so happy I pitched, and I am absolutely delighted to have 2 tech industry rockstars with me on the Social Tip journey. Chris and Ryan have so much brilliant experience in the space and have already added a huge amount of value to our fledgling enterprise.
So, don’t be quiet and never shut up about your ideas – even if it means pitching at 2 AM over beers at your kitchen table.
