Golden daffodils sway in the breeze, Welsh voices sing with hearts at ease. Red dragons dance on banners high, Underneath the Cymru sky. With leeks in hand and spirits bright, We honour Dewi’s guiding light. "Do the little things," he said, Kindness, love, and peace we spread. So raise a toast, both near and far, To Wales, our home our brightest star! 🌿 🌻 ♻️ ##HappyStDavidsDay #DyddGŵylDewiHapus #Recycling

Food waste is a growing problem in the UK, with millions of tonnes of perfectly edible food being discarded every year. This not only wastes valuable resources used in food production, such as water and energy, but also contributes to climate change due to the greenhouse gases released when food decomposes in landfills. Shockingly, households in the UK throw away 2.6 billion pieces of bread and 1.6 billion uneaten apples annually. Even more disheartening, around 5,500 whole chickens and 440,000 ready meals are discarded daily. These figures highlight a culture of over-purchasing and poor food management. The issue isn’t just limited to homes. Across the food supply chain, 40% to 60% of fish caught in Europe are rejected because they don’t meet size or species preferences. Retailers and consumers often demand "perfect" produce, leading to the unnecessary disposal of food that is perfectly fit for consumption. In England and Wales alone, £9 billion worth of food is wasted each year, with £1 billion of this still being in-date when thrown away. Addressing food waste requires collective action. Individuals can make a difference by planning meals, storing food properly, and getting creative with leftovers. On a broader scale, businesses and policymakers need to invest in solutions to reduce waste, improve redistribution efforts, and educate consumers on mindful food habits. By making small changes, we can reduce waste, save money, and help protect the environment. #Reuse #Reduce #Recycle
