The Young Inventors Prize celebrates the sharpest young minds on the planet. Huge thanks to the University of Reading for hosting us on #CleanAirDay. Our Air Quality team delivered an interactive workshop to more than 60 students and members of staff, as part of Reading Borough Council's Clean Air Living Matters (CALM) programme and Reading's 2024 Climate Festival. Students were given hands-on experience of ambient #AirQuality monitoring, learned about indoor air pollution, and crafted their own action plans! The day wrapped up with a discussion on green careers led by Jonny Dodkins and William Storey, presenting on their experience and roles at Stantec. The climate stripes were created by Professor Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading and they've become a stark warning of the rapid rise in average temperatures over nearly two centuries - with 2023 the darkest stripe yet. Yesterday was #CleanAirDay! To mark the occasion, the Stantec Air Quality team were out and about helping to deliver an air quality workshop to secondary school students in Reading as part of our ongoing collaborative project funded by DEFRA. It was amazing to hear so many unique ideas to tackle air pollution and help students to forge their own air quality action plans - definitely a few future air quality champions in the room!
