About us
DIRT Charity works to regenerate soil. Regenerating soil is one of the most important actions to be taken in the face of climate change. DIRT regenerates soil through supporting the Biodynamic Farming movement. Founded by Arizona Muse - model, environmentalist, sustainability consultant, advisory board member. Photographed by the industry's most established names, Arizona has appeared on the covers of leading fashion publications and has been the face of international campaigns for global fashion brands. After being a model for 10 years, Arizona realised she didn’t know anything about the materials her clothes came from. Ever since then she has been on an eye-opening journey, educating herself about the truth of how things are actually made, who makes them and the impact this cycle has on planet Earth. Muse consults to help brands incorporate sustainability into their core strategy, sits on the advisory board of The Sustainable Angle and The Biodynamic Demeter Alliance, collaborates with Extinction Rebellion, Fashion Revolution, and is Greenpeace’s Oceans Ambassador and Aveda’s first global sustainability advocate. It is her life’s mission to raise awareness about the climate emergency and the climate solution that is Biodynamic Farming. Charity Registered in England and Wales | 1199510

A Tribute to the Women Growing Our Clothes - International Rural Women's Day 🌍 Women in conventional agriculture face unsafe conditions, low wages, and exposure to harmful chemicals, trapping them in cycles of poverty. Please see Demeter's post below for more information. 👩🌾 Regenerative agriculture prioritizes biodiversity and worker dignity, empowering people—especially women—to break free from systemic exploitation. It's not just an environmental solution; it's also a path to social justice, promoting ethical practices, fair wages, and gender equality across the supply chain. 🌱 By setting the highest ethical and regenerative standards, DIRT and Biodynamic Federation Demeter International aim to empower consumers to choose fashion that heals, not harms, while ensuring a future that restores both nature and social justice. These standards will tackle exploitation, environmental damage, and gender inequality by prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and human dignity.
🌍 International Rural Women’s Day 👩 🌾 International Rural Women’s Day is a day to recognize the invaluable contributions of women for the global food system. They play indeed a critical role in food production, food security and nutrition, land and natural resource management, and climate resilience. 🏡 According to the FAO, women often make up more than 43% of the agricultural labour force. However, despite their essential role in #agriculture and rural economies, women disproportionately experience poverty, exclusion, and the impacts of climate change. On average they earn 18.4% less than their male counterparts, with limited access to land and agricultural markets. 🚜 The FAO estimates that closing the gender gap in agrifood systems could boost global food production by 1%, thus reducing global food insecurity for nearly 45 million people. Therefore, on Int. Rural Women’s Day, let’s make sure we celebrate the incredible work of women in agriculture and advocate for equal opportunities for all in rural communities, as #RealWomen are the key to #ZeroHunger. 👉 More on Int. 📣 OUR BIGGEST NEWS YET 📣 DIRT Charity, together with Biodynamic Federation Demeter International, are excited to announce the launch of 10 New Textile Standards for the Fashion Industry….. THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE REGENERATIVE TEXTILE STANDARD TO DATE! The first standard, the dye standard, has been completed! Ever wondered where the dyes in your clothes end up? 🌊 They mainly run off into any available water body, polluting the largest carbon sink on our planet and destroying life beneath the water. We need to keep our beautiful rivers, the veins of the earth, clean from toxic chemicals. And our newest dye standard is helping us do exactly that! The complete ten Demeter Textile Standards for fashion’s raw materials include: 🌱DYES 🌱COTTON 🌱SILK 🌱WOOL 🌱LEATHER 🌱TREE FIBER 🌱BASTS (linen, flax, hemp) 🌱FEATHERS 🌱CASHMERE 🌱MUSHROOM LEATHER. This marks a significant step towards a future where the fashion supply chain begins to restore health to our planet, thus helping us achieve our purpose of garnering fashion’s sourcing power to support soil regeneration and thereby, turning fashion into a climate solution 🌍 Please follow along the journey of the next 9 textile standards! ✨

🌍 A Reminder to All Fashion Sustainability Enthusiasts 🌍 For those who are building a sustainable fashion brand, already running one, or are simply interested in sustainable textile solutions, we highly encourage you to attend the upcoming Future Fabrics Expo. Nina Marenzi, one of our founder's biggest inspirations on her journey into sustainability, has created such an amazing event. It is a fantastic opportunity to dive deeper into the world of sustainable textiles and connect with like-minded professionals. Let’s educate ourselves and work towards a regenerative future together! 🌱 📅 Date: 25 & 26 June 📍 Location: London 🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/d7s76Bgd
I’m often asked how my journey into sustainability started and my answer always includes the The Sustainable Angle. Specifically, textile materials and one of my many treasured mentors, Nina Marenzi, who’s lessons I will always hold dearly 🌍 I’ve learned so much about supply chains and where materials come from. I started asking questions about every single thing to know all the answers because there are so many surprises along supply chains. Mental, human and social surprises. It’s not fair that we don’t educate ourselves on these topics. Without sustainable materials, we will never succeed to have the regenerative future we all need 🌱 I invite you to register for the upcoming Future Fabrics Expo on 25 & 26 June in London held by Sustainable Angle.
