Some statistics from our new ‘Masked Realities’ study 📊 We at Diversita are once again thrilled to discuss our latest study "Masked Realities: The Unspoken Career Journeys of Neurodivergent Women" In collaboration with Unida Consulting and Liv Blaney QAVS. "Masked Realities" highlights the voices of over 40 neurodivergent women and incorporates insights from a survey of more than 100 participants. Their journeys and contributions form the foundation of this essential work. Today, we’d like to highlight some of the striking findings from the study: ➡ 86% of women, 73% of men and 70% of non-binary/other were found to mask while in the workplace ➡ 74% of individuals were at least somewhat concerned with disclosing their neurodivergence at work for fear of it impacting their career ➡ 70% of women reported a work bias based on their neurotype, and 48% experienced similar bias but instead based on their gender ➡ Our surveys showed that only 39% of women had been diagnosed before the age of 35, compared to the men's percentage of 48% If you would like to receive a copy of the report either by representing an organisation or personal interest, please request it here: https://lnkd.in/eDtt_yfi. Together, let’s champion neurodiversity and create a more inclusive future! #neurodiversity #neuroinclusion #ndwomen #neurodivergentwomen

Upcoming Neurodiversity Event! ‘Masked Realities’ So after 8 months , 45 interviews , 100+ survey respondents and hours of teams/zoom/google calls Diversita.co.uk , Unida Consulting and Liv Blaney QAVS are excited to announce the launch of Masked realities : The unspoken career journeys of neurodivergent women More specifically we are proud to announce our launch event on Thursday, 28th November 2024, at 9:30 AM in London hosted by Amazon at their Holden offices. As a team we are all so proud of the passion and commitment shown to this study from  Sandra Guzman Giulia Guida-Crawley Liv Blaney QAVS Nathalie Mawdsley and our founder Marc Crawley However, its the voices and contributors that have really shaped this study and so today below we would love to share some of, what we believe to be, the most hard-hitting lines we found from our interviews and surveys:   ➡ “I don't see many neurodivergent female leaders.I know I'm not standard when I walk around the office” ➡ “I mask the absolute life out of myself. You seethe duck gliding in the water, but you don't see the mental costs its takes” ➡ “I always just felt like I was someone who just couldn't cope in the way other people could, and I was just wrong and not good enough” ➡ “I felt very much like I wasn't good enough and that sooner or later they'd find out that I wasn't brilliant and therefore my kind of perfectionism and over working went into overdrive” ➡ “I just cry like unconsolably for however long it takes to kind of reset myself, really” ➡ “I think at the heart of many of the issues and challenges around disclosure is there's no perceived upside for anyone in the organisation. There's only perceived downside” ➡ “I can see when people hear neurodivergent, they think retarded” ➡ “We had a generation of stigma where you wouldn't say something at work, and now you say something at work, and it almost gets dismissed or ignored and I think that's a shame on society” ➡ “I don’t think they (leaders) understand how to support any neurodivergent person to be honest” Thank you very much to everyone involved and please join us at the launch event of our report at 9.30am on the 28th November in Holborn. Places are limited so please register your interest at the link below https://lnkd.in/edHMy97d. In today’s competitive landscape, embracing neurodiversity isn’t just the right thing to do - it’s a smart business strategy. Diversita would like to share 4 reasons we believe neuro-inclusion is key to your organisation. ⚖ Legal -  Non-compliance with equality and disability laws can lead to costly legal battles in the form of tribunals and possible reputational damage. You can potentially avoid this by offering support where needed. 🔄 Turnover rates - Ineffective inclusion strategies can result in higher attrition rates, leading to increased hiring and training expenses. Inclusive workplaces foster a sense of belonging, reducing turnover and the associated costs of recruitment and training new employees. 🔎 Opportunities - Ignoring the value of neurodiversity means missing out on innovative ideas and solutions that could benefit your organisation. Diverse perspectives drive creativity and problem-solving, leading to unique solutions that can give your organisation a competitive edge. In addition by embracing neurodiversity, you can attract a wider range of candidates, ensuring you find the best talent for your company. 👀 Brand - Finally organisations known for their inclusivity are more attractive to clients and potential employees, enhancing your brand image and marketability. If you represent an organisation and wish to enquire or just learn more, we at Diversita offer training and consulting to support you.
