Today we announced a company milestone - our Series B fundraise! We welcome our new investors Lakestar, Optum Ventures, and Elaia and thank existing investors who participated in the round, General Catalyst, Bertelsmann Investments, and Speedinvest, for their continued support. Oliver Heimes will join the board. None of this is possible without our partners across the European healthcare system and the patients we serve. Doccla was founded to provide hospital-level care and support at home for multiple patient profiles across the acuity spectrum: enabling the early discharge of patients, as well as ensuring that for those with chronic care needs, hospital admission might be avoided in the first place. The funding will be used to further consolidate our market-leading position in the UK and Ireland (where we recently launched with the Health Service Executive), while looking to expand in France and the DACH region, and build upon our Pharma work. Head to the comments for links to articles about today’s news. Particular thanks to... Vijay Barathan, MD Samantha J. Chris Bischoff Alexandre Momeni Tim Schneider Agnes Eva Uhr, LL.M. We're thrilled to announce that Doccla's managing heart failure at home pilot programme has won the 'Most Promising Pilot' award at the HTN - Health Tech News Awards 2024! This award-winning pilot, conducted in partnership with Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, showcased a proactive model of care for heart failure. By providing remote monitoring, guided self-management, and patient education, we successfully reduced readmissions to zero and significantly improved patient well-being. Key achievements of the pilot include: 🏆 Reduced 30-day readmissions from three to zero among 52 patients in just three months, saving the NHS approximately £6,822. 💸 Estimated potential savings of £558,601 over six months for the Trust's 4,176 registered heart failure patients. 🏥 Reduced A&E contacts and non-elective inpatient contacts. 🚀 Improved patient mobility, self-care, quality of life, and reduced anxiety and depression. This recognition highlights the potential of remote patient monitoring to transform healthcare into a more proactive, patient-centred model. We are committed to continuing our work with the NHS to extend these benefits to more patients and pathways, empowering individuals to manage their conditions at home and reducing the burden on healthcare resources. Found Vin Diwakar’s answers to questions very interesting - when asked by Gillian Leng CBE how optimistic he was about digital health in the NHS in the future he said that when there is alignment between politicians, professionals - by which he meant everyone in the NHS - and the public, that’s where the magic happens. In response to tech that was making a difference he highlighted #VirtualWards He also flagged in his strong keynote that the reason the NHS is facing increased demand is not more people needing care, it’s the tripling of people living with multiple long term conditions - hence the missions from hospital to home, analogue to digital, sickness to prevention. Cracking a new tech-enabled model for management of severe LTCs, particularly multiple conditions, seems to me to be absolutely central to the recovery of the #NHS Who’s in? #TheresNoPlaceLikeHome #RemoteMonitoring #HETT24 Digital Care

🚀 Virtual Wards are #2 on BBC News Top 6 Schemes to Help Save the NHS” 🚀 After years in healthcare innovation, it’s no surprise to see Virtual Wards highlighted as a key solution for the NHS. But what truly excites us at Doccla is how our Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) technology can amplify the impact of other initiatives mentioned in the BBC’s insightful article. Here’s how: 1. Tests and Scans in Shopping Centres: Imagine combining high-street diagnostic centres with Doccla’s RPM tools. We can pre-screen at-risk individuals for critical indicators—like oxygen levels, heart health, or blood pressure—before they even step foot in the centre. This not only streamlines the process but ensures that those who need it most get the care they require quickly and efficiently. 2. Surgery Hubs: High-productivity surgery hubs are fantastic, but patient readiness remains a challenge. Our RPM tech tracks vital signs and patient behaviour leading up to surgery, improving compliance with pre-surgery protocols. This means fewer last-minute cancellations and more successful procedures, helping tackle the elective surgery backlog. 3. Rapid Discharge Teams: Doccla’s Virtual Wards work hand-in-hand with Rapid Discharge Teams, enabling more patients to safely transition from hospital to home. Our comprehensive service supports everything from device logistics to clinical monitoring, ensuring patients remain stable and supported, reducing the strain on hospital resources. 4. Prescribing Dance and Arts: Social prescribing has incredible potential, especially when paired with long-term remote monitoring. The insights gained through our RPM platform allow clinicians to make tailored lifestyle recommendations—be it diet, exercise, or mental health support—that have lasting, positive impacts on patient wellbeing. 5. Lung Cancer Screening Trucks: Doccla’s RPM can help identify those most at risk and ensure that screening is both timely and effective. Moreover, during cancer treatment, our technology allows patients to avoid unnecessary hospital visits, providing them with the comfort and care they need at home, especially when their immune systems are compromised. How do you think Virtual Wards can bolster the NHS? Let's continue to redefine the limits of what's achievable in healthcare. 👉 Check out the BBC article here: https://lnkd.in/eZn2EQkE #NHS #VirtualWards #RemotePatientMonitoring #HealthcareInnovation #Doccla

I am delighted to announce that the Virtual Ward Programme was one of the finalists in the 2024 Ireland eGovernment Awards which took place yesterday. It is a fantastic achievement for the programme to have been recognised at this early stage of implementation. The Virtual Wards enable patients to receive consultant-led hospital care in the comfort of their own home, with positive and encouraging feedback on patient and staff experience received to date. I would like to acknowledge and thank the entire team involved - onwards and upwards! Bernard Gloster Colm Henry Robert Watt

The team at Digital Care thoroughly enjoyed supporting this brilliant programme - written up in this Nursing Times article. Lesley Soden and Pip Hodgson delivered modules that went down really well with the group. It’s terrific to see the impact the programme has had on confidence and skills, and such a marked shift in a short time speaking to the care in programme design and selection of speakers by Jimmy Endicott at Healthy.io This is exactly the practical support we need to give to NHS staff to make the most of digital opportunities in healthcare. We’d be delighted to partner on this and similar programmes again.

The Virtual Wards Service is a significant development in addressing unscheduled care needs of patients as well as digital transformation of healthcare in Ireland. Since July 1st virtual ward care is being delivered in St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin and University Hospital Limerick to suitable Cardiology and Respiratory patients. Thanks to remote monitoring technology, patients are enabled to receive consultant-led hospital care in the comfort of their own home, empowering them to be active partners in managing their health. As well as the numerous benefits for patients to recover at home, virtual wards are contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery. In the first ten weeks of operations, 864 virtual bed days have been used supporting increased in-patient hospital bed capacity. The service will continue to scale up helping to alleviate pressure on the hospital system. Clinical leadership and engagement is central to developing virtual wards and new patient pathways in response to healthcare challenges. This success is a testament to the hard work of teams in HSE, centrally and in both hospitals.
