Yes, dogs can have strokes too. Symptoms could be unusual eye movement (eg flickering), incoordination/balance problems, circling, collapse, seizure, head shaking or pressing against a solid object, unusual gait or weakness. 📞 Consult a vet immediately. #worldstrokeday #dogsandstrokes #strokeawareness #knowthesymptoms #dogfirstaid #dogadvice #firstaidadvice

Now that the evenings are getting darker earlier, remember to keep you and your dog safe by wearing reflective clothing and using bright or reflective collars or harnesses. You can also get light up leads or LED blinker lights to attach to the collar or harness. Road traffic accidents are more common in the winter. Also check to make sure that your dog is microchipped, that the details are up to date (have you moved house for example), and that they are wearing their ID tag in case they get lost after dark. #winternights #darkearly #darkevenings #clockschanging #beseen #dogsafety #dogsafetytips #bevisible

It’s National Pumpkin Day! 🎃 In moderation, pumpkin can be a really healthy treat for your dog. However, there are a couple of things to be careful with: 🎃 Raw chunks and the rind are hard to digest and may cause an intestinal blockage as well as being a choking hazard 🎃 Canned pumpkin may contain xylitol which is toxic for dogs We recommend cooking pumpkin at home to avoid these issues and not overdoing it! Any big change to your dog's diet can have unwanted consequences 💩 💩 💩 #pumpkinseason #pumpkin #pumpkincarving #Halloween #dogfacts #dogadvice #goodtoeat

This is caused when the thin nictitating membrane (often referred to as the third eyelid) in a dog becomes infected. Any dog can suffer from cherry eye, but it is more common in brachycephalic breeds. #cherryeye #dogailments #doghealth #dogcare #dogfacts #brachycephalic

Don’t forget that the pips are toxic (for you and your dog)! 🍏🍎 They contain small amounts of cyanide. Don’t worry though, eating a small quantity by accident won’t do any harm, just don’t let them eats lots. #AppleDay #dogadvice #dogpoisoning #dogtoptips #dogcare #dogcaretips
