Six years ago our big boy Winston lost his life because of a firework 💔💔💔 We let him out to toilet in the early hours thinking all the fireworks had finished. A solitary firework went off and he didn’t come back in. We found him laid under the decking where he had tried to hide, terrified out of his mind. He had a heart attack and passed away. For every moment of human pleasure, there are countless animals suffering. It is heartbreaking watching the stress some of them endure. We do all we can to reduce it and keep them safe but none of the methods are as effective as silent fireworks, or even better no fireworks at all.

The UK’s pioneering kennel-free rescue saving dogs in need from UK & around the world. Our rescue is powered by love
About us
Dogs4Rescue is the UK's pioneering kennel-free rescue based in Manchester UK, the life mission of Emma Billington. We are leading the Rescue Revolution with our kennel-free approach to dog rescue where our dogs live and sleep together as packs never knowing they are homeless. Our mission is to rescue the ones who need us the most, the ones no one else wants. We save UK pound dogs facing euthanasia, take problem cases for the likes of Battersea and rescue dogs in desperate need from around the world. In 9 years, we have successfully rehomed over 1600 dogs in the Greater Manchester area. All our dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, flea & wormed and have full travel documents where appropriate. We offer lifetime Rescue Back Up and will never give up on one of our dogs. We have around 20 sanctuary dogs who cannot be rehomed and will live out their days with us. This stable group of dogs is core to our unique pack rehabilitation work. We continually challenge perceptions in everything we do and are re-writing the narrative on rescue dogs, street dogs and damaged dogs. We actively demonstrate that street dogs who are written off and euthanised in the kennel system can be successfully rehabilitated in a different environment. We have had some remarkable successes through our steadfast belief that dogs can change if you live in the moment with them. At the height of lockdown we crowdfunded £450,000 to purchase outright our second site near Accrington; 41 idyllic acres of mature countryside which will become a Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Retreat for the dogs no one wants. The phase 1 build is underway, the first 20 dogs will move up there in April with permissions for 80 dogs as the site develops. We are change makers who dare to do things differently and are looking to connect with companies who have a similar outlook and individuals who want to help the rescue revolution.

Cookie giving good morning kisses to her four boyfriends is the sweetest thing you will see today 🥰🐶🐶🐶🐶🥰 The transformation in this girl is incredible. When she arrived from our friends at Oakwood Dog Rescue she went straight into flight mode circling the park. She watched Angela hide in the decking and decided that was her safe space. We only saw her at feeding time, but after hours we would observe her playing with the dogs. Then she learned she could lay on the decking and people wouldn't approach or ask anything of her. So she started being out in the day more. Fast forward 1 year 9 months and here she is interacting naturally with her friends as though we weren't there. Simply magical 💜 #kennelfree #packrehabilitation #rescuesworkingtogether

At what price the fireworks… Poor Bramble and Turkey have both had to come back to the rescue after becoming unsettled in their foster homes 😟 These are both sensitive souls who had been doing well until all the trick or treat callers and fireworks. Legislation needs to change. Fireworks literally terrorise animals everywhere. Polite note: this is on no way a failure on the part of the foster families, it was just better for the dog to come back to where they feel safest 💜

Pumpkin Odin forgot to put kennel cleaner on his last Amazon Wishlist 🤭 If anyone would like to help him replenish our stocks we’d be incredibly grateful 🙏 https://lnkd.in/epTdq7wg

Sometimes it takes a village… the power of collaboration 💜 Million has only gone a bagged herself the most amazing trial with one-eyed Toby, Annie and their gang 🥳 So many dogs (and people) have made this possible 👇 🐶 Soi Dog Foundation who saved Million as an injured puppy and nursed her back to health. She famously became their millionth sterilisation. 🐶🐶🐶 Our Irlam dogs, especially Duke who helped her feel safe when she arrived with us. Million is a nervous girl who needs other dogs around her. 🐶 D4R adopted Yogi and his family who fostered her and helped her understand what home life was about 🐶 Bob who attends Daycare 4 Dogs who became her foster furbrother and solidified living in a home and introduced her to the experience of attending Daycare 🐶🐶🐶 All the daycare dogs who pass their confidence onto her including beautiful, playful Annie who is now her fursister on trial 🙍♀️🙎♂️The teams at Soi Dog, Dogs 4 Rescue, Daycare 4 Dogs and of course her foster families who have done so much to build her confidence with people and new situations. Please wish Million good luck in the comments. She is such a special girl 💜 #rescuesworkingtogether

The arrival of little Faith. Originally saved from the Chinese Meat Trade she hadn’t settled in her UK home so has come to us as rescue back up for our friends at Candys Hound Rescue. She trusts dogs more than people so our pack will make her feel safe while we work on her confidence. She couldn’t resist following them outside 🐕🐕🐕 #rescuesworkingtogether #packrehabilitation

The struggle to concentrate is real. Roo had her spay so has joined Lollipop on rest and both are frustrated that they can't go out to play. So they called best friend Odin in a formed a choir. Awoooooooo 🎶🐶🐶🐶🎶 When our dogs are on rest or new dogs come in bewildered from a home, our computer based team members have them in with them for company 💜

Please wish your boy Lollipop well in his recovery ❤️🩹 Last week Lollipop needed an operation to remove his tail. He loves nothing more than to run free, and unfortunately that means occasionally he scuffs his tail. We have managed this successfully all this time, but this summer he started holding his tail differently and it resulted in a nasty scuff which got infected. The vets advised it was in his best interests to amputate, especially as it would only happen again. He was incredibly brave and wore his bow tie to the vets making him the most dapper dog in there. He was back with us the same day and is now on rest until he fully recovers. His operation went very well and everything was looking good on his first check up. Caring for disabled dogs is not without its challenges and it is a balance between trying to protect them and giving them freedom they crave and allowing them to enjoy life. Lolli has always loved to run free on soft grass and in a few weeks he'll be back to flying around the place. Special thanks to his Auntie Maggie for taking him to the vets which helped him feel safe. And the biggest thank you to his special sponsors, we were able to cover the operation which cost £1,780 with the sponsor pot we have put by for him. Please send Lolli all your love in the comments ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹

11 years ago our founder Emma Billington bought a derelict farmhouse near Manchester to start her dog rescue dream. She wanted to do things differently. Having seen a pack rescue in Turkey she couldn't understand why rescue dogs over here had to live in kennels. It felt as alien to her as it does to most of the dogs. Kennel-free rescue in the UK was born 🐶🐶🐶 Here are some of the magical moments at our original Irlam site from the last 12 months 🐶🐶🐶 #kennelfree #therescuerevolution #bethechange #changemakers
