Vascular dementia is an important stream of research in our Experimental Medicine Incubator. The team has 3 linked studies focused on identifying molecular targets related to vascular disease which could be drug targets in dementia. Meeting this week, and hosted by co-Lead Prof Atticus Hainsworth. the team discussed how these can be developed. There was a positive discussion with the pharma industry, academics and third sector about all 3 studies. 1. Vascular lesions and dementia risk - Prof Joanna Wardlaw & Dr John McFadden. 2. Mendelian Randomisation to define drug targets for small vessel disease - Dr Fatemeh Koohi & Professor Hugh Markus 3. Cardiovascular disease and drug history to define drug targets for dementia - Jodi Watt, PhD & Prof Terry Quinn The University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, University of Cambridge, St George's, University of London, University of Nottingham, University of Southampton, Imperial College London, UCL, University of Oxford, Alzheimer's Society, Alzheimer's Research UK and all our industry partners.

One week left to apply for our Advanced Health Data Training Academy! We have helped over 250 researchers understand how to work with dementia datasets through our health data training academies. We run courses for both beginners and more experienced researchers, helping them to analyse data and develop their skills in statistical analysis. Our next training opportunity is aimed at researchers with some previous data analysis experience and will run between 4th - 8th November 2024. The course is online and takes place in a UK timezone (GMT) but is open to researchers worldwide! Applications to participate close Monday 14th October at 5pm (BST): https://zurl.co/IGs0 Learn more: https://zurl.co/y4NN #data #dementia #research
