Happy International Women’s Day from DTRE LLP!   This week, we’ve been showcasing the fantastic work of Empowering Kids in Kenya and its support for Bombolulu Educational Centre and its students.    Today, we wanted to share their stories:   “We support each other here in the safehouse because we all have a common goal – we want to succeed in life. Now I am happy because I have enough time to study and we live in peace. Happy International Women's Day to all our mothers who struggle to raise their children and encourage us to work hard in school for a brighter future.” – Alice, 15   “I am so happy to be in the safehouse. Now I have enough time to study so that I can accomplish my dream of becoming a doctor. On this International Women's Day I would say that it's important for other people to support women who go through gender-based violence, to save their lives and make our world a peaceful place for everyone.” – Sharon, 15   “Here I get time to study and pursue my dream of becoming a nurse so that I can help the sick people in our society. As #InternationalWomensWeek 2025 unfolds, we’re continuing to spotlight DTRE LLP's charity of the year, Empowering Kids in Kenya, which is supporting The Bombolulu Educational Centre in Mombasa, Kenya.    Today, we hear from Nancy, the school manager, as she shares her insights on the impact of education and empowerment in her community.    Through the sponsorship program at the educational centre, these girls are given a chance to break free from the cycle of poverty, learn essential skills and become strong leaders in their communities. To celebrate International Women’s Week 2025, we’re highlighting DTRE LLP’s chosen charity of the year, which supports a school project in Bombolulu, Mombasa, Kenya. This initiative provides free secondary education and a safe space for at-risk girls, helping to create a brighter future for the community. As a trustee, Paul Graham, BSc FRICS has been working closely with the charity to expand opportunities for these students. In conversation with Claudia Harley, he shares his experiences supporting the charity’s mission. Having already grown a local primary school from 30 to 300 students, the charity is now focused on helping its graduates continue into secondary education. This work is about more than education—it’s about long-term change, empowering students, particularly girls, to take control of their futures.
