Over the coming weeks, we are going to introduce a 'Day in the life of'...this is to help understand what different roles we have within E.ON Control Solutions Ltd and what those roles do on a day-to-day basis. Today we are looking at the role of our Customer Support Manager Abi McKenna from the EMC 💻 🙋 'My day begins by reviewing emails and messages that have come in overnight and checking for any escalations or urgent issues. I also take note of any meetings scheduled for the day. After that, I chat with the Customer Support (CS) team, providing updates and addressing any immediate concerns. I then make a to-do list, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and carryovers from previous days. A quick check of team stats and KPIs helps me ensure we have adequate coverage on phones and other tasks. Given the reactive nature of our work, I frequently review calls and emails throughout the day to assess if the team needs extra support. My background as a former customer support team member allows me to step in and assist when necessary. Though it's challenging to have daily one-on-one conversations with each of the seven team members, I strive to connect with them individually each week to discuss their progress, offer feedback, and address areas for improvement. Managing escalated issues is another key part of my role, often requiring problem-solving, coordination with other departments, and direct communication with customers. Currently, we're undergoing structural changes, so I’m focused on planning for the weeks and months ahead. This includes improving processes, implementing new work patterns, and setting future goals. Organization is one of my strengths; I update my lists throughout the day and find that maintaining structure in my work helps me manage my busy home life with two children. My hybrid work arrangement allows me to split my time between the office and home, ensuring I stay connected with my team and the wider office, despite varying shifts and meetings. I wrap up my day by reviewing the team’s progress, addressing any outstanding issues, and checking the latest call stats and figures to stay on top of everything.' The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme, designed to identify and implement energy, carbon, and cost-saving measures for all qualifying organisations in the UK. 🗒📈🔌 The E.ON Control Solutions Ltd Energy Management Services (EMS) team has completed ESOS assessments for 31 organisations. These clients comprise a wide variety of industries and sectors, from education to hospitality, and chemical processing plants to large UK-wide retail organisations. As a result, 251 site audits were carried out, identifying almost 1,900 efficiency measures that could save over 179,000,000 kWh annually (greater than 38,000 tonnes of CO2 annually). 💷📒 In line with the UK Government's strategy to decarbonise heating by electrification or other means, where a fossil fuel-burning asset was deemed end-of-life, an additional annual saving of 18,338 tonnes of CO2 was identified.
