💛🌻 At East Cheshire Hospice, we’re dedicated to providing specialist, compassionate care for people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and their loved ones. Since February 2023, Chris has been accessing a range of our services, from the FAB programme and Supportive Therapy Days to respite care on our Inpatient Unit. He is also a regular at our monthly MND support sessions, where he connects with others facing similar challenges. Beyond medical care, we recognise the importance of emotional and personal moments. In August 2024, Chris and his wife, Bernadette, celebrated their love by renewing their wedding vows in our Chapel which was a truly special occasion made possible by our dedicated team. 💍💖 This is the heart of Hospice care: not just about treatment, but about living well, making memories, and feeling supported at every stage. 💛

⭐ Meet Spike, one of many of our incredible volunteers who plays a vital role in delivering and collecting the amazing furniture you donate and purchase from East Cheshire Hospice! Spike has been an invaluable part of East Cheshire Hospice for 16 years, starting with our famous Christmas Tree Collection. Since retiring 17 months ago, he’s continued to give back by dedicating his free time each week to help with furniture deliveries and collections – always with a smile on his face. 💬 As Spike shares "I have always enjoyed giving back to the community and I knew East Cheshire Hospice was the place to do it, over the last 17 months I have gained new friendships by being on the van, but best of all I know by giving up a few hours each week I'm helping the Hospice raise the £9,362 each day needed to provide the outstanding care and support they provide." What a legend! A huge thank you to Spike for his dedication and passion. 🙌💙

💛 At East Cheshire Hospice, we not only provide care for patients and their families but also continue to support them throughout their journey, even after they have used our services. Amy Williams, now our Family and Friends Fundraiser, began her journey with us in 2022, volunteering every Tuesday in the Sunflower Centre, where she assisted day care patients. 🌻 "I fell in love with the Hospice," she said. "When the opportunity for the in-memory fundraising assistant role came up, it felt like a natural progression to build on the relationships I had developed with patients and families in the Sunflower Centre." ❣️ After joining the Hospice fundraising team in a full time position shortly after, Amy continues her weekly Sunflower sessions, by helping in the activity sessions such as baking, crafts, painting, and sewing. These activities are vital in building relationships with patients and their families, which is key to her work in fundraising. 🗣️ As part of her role, Amy also works closely with our Inpatient Unit team, building relationships and helping families who wish to honour their loved ones through in-memory fundraising. "Fundraising in memory of a loved one can be an important part of the grieving process. Some may choose to get involved right away, while others may wait until later. I’m here to support them through that journey, offering tailored guidance for whatever feels right for them." 🌳 Whether it's through funeral donations, fundraising challenges, tribute pages, or become part of our Memory Tree subscribers, Amy is committed to helping families celebrate lives and keep their loved ones’ memories alive. ➡️ If you’d like to learn more about in-memory fundraising, visit: https://lnkd.in/esxUWJUs

✨ Starlight Walk is a special evening, giving supporters time to reflect and remember a loved one. Hear from Georgia and daughter Ruby on why Starlight Walk means so much to them. ✨ 💛 “I wanted to say thank you and make sure others get the same care and treatment as we did and especially my husband who spent three weeks at the Hospice.” ✨ “Ruby saw the poster for the Starlight Walk and said she wanted to do it again to raise some money for the nurses. It’s a special evening. It’s beautiful and we’re lighting a candle for daddy.” 🎟 To attend this year's event at Capesthorne Hall on 15th May, don't forget to purchase your ticket https://lnkd.in/e7Bk-4fk

At East Cheshire Hospice, every role plays a crucial part in keeping our services running—and for our talented Bid Writer Louise, words truly do make a difference. 💛 ✍🏼 Her role is to craft compelling applications to charitable trusts and foundations, securing much-needed funding to support our care. We welcome grants for any of our other services, including childhood and adult bereavement, our befriending service, or the inpatient unit, every grant helps us provide vital care for our community. Building relationships with donors is key. Large corporate foundations and small family trusts alike contribute to the Hospice, and every penny makes a difference. As Louise puts it: ➡️ “It’s an important income stream. When we apply we find a project or service within the Hospice which best fits what a charitable donor wants to support. 🗨️ “Case studies help show funders the impact of a service. With permission, we use quotes and videos of what our care means to people. These patient stories are like gold dust and so powerful." ➡️ “Clinical staff might not always recognise what they do. They do this work day in day out and just get on with caring for patients." Her work involves deep research, liaising with Hospice clinical and non-clinical teams, and telling the real stories of those we care for. Case studies, quotes, videos, and personal accounts help bring our applications to life, showing the impact of every donation. 🌻 Interested in making a difference? Let’s start a conversation. 📩 philanthropy@echospice.org.uk

💛🌻 Two incredible sisters, Imogen and Hattie, are going above and beyond to support East Cheshire Hospice as a way of saying thank you for the care their beloved grandfather has been receiving. Their grandfather, Richard from Macclesfield, was diagnosed with a stage four brain tumour on Christmas Eve and has recently been receiving care at the Hospice. 🌟 Hattie set up a teddy bear stall outside her home, raising an amazing £400! 🎨 Meanwhile, Imogen is selling her cherished artwork over the next six months, with all proceeds going to the Hospice. Thanks to the generous support of Bollington Printshop, who are printing her work for free, she is creating stunning pet and landscape commissions as part of her Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. “The Hospice is very important to us as they are looking after our grandfather,” she shared. Hattie also used her Christmas money to make friendship bracelets with heartfelt messages before deciding to sell her teddy bears to raise even more funds. 🗨️ Mum Verity said: “Hattie decided she wanted to sell her teddy bears to raise funds. Dad isn’t well but he’d be thrilled by what his granddaughters are doing. We’re extremely grateful for the way the Hospice are looking after us all as a family.” 💛 The sisters have already raised over £900 – an amazing achievement! Please join us in celebrating their kindness and dedication. If you’d like to support their efforts, leave a message of encouragement below and visit their Just Giving link https://lnkd.in/eVkgz-DX 👏💙
