About us
Eastside Educational Trust is a registered charity which delivers arts activities and creative learning projects to children and young people through schools and community groups. We enable young people to work alongside professional artists and creative practitioners both in school time and out of school hours. Eastside makes art happen. Our mission is to engage and educate school age children, through direct participation in the arts. We want to inspire all young Londoners to develop their potential, share their talents and enrich their lives. We will do this by enabling young people to work with professional artists, in areas where our help is needed most. Eastside’s work has won many awards, set two official Guinness World Records for literature, gained two quality assurance marks - 'Learning Outside the Classroom' and 'Investing in Volunteers', won the 'European Award for Languages' and in 2010, we received 'The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service', the equivalent of an MBE for community based organisations. We make a difference to young Londoners' lives by enriching them. Young people participating in Eastside's work develop skills which help them to succeed and empower them to be confident, engaging and engaged individuals so that they are able to enter the job market fully prepared. Our workshops and projects go beyond what they learn as we believe that participants enhance their social networks.

🎬🍿 BFI Academy Screening 2025 🎥⭐️ The 2024-25 British Film Institute (BFI) Film Academy has concluded with a prestigious screening at the famous BFI Southbank! Students shared their films to a packed-out audience of family, friends, and film industry professionals. The students took to the stage to receive their official BFI Film Academy completion certificates, discuss their work and experiences, and how they’ve developed over this intensive course. This year, Eastside has been working on the 2024-25 BFI Film Academy with consortium partners CTVC Ltd, @Silver Knight, and The Film and Video Workshop, to again deliver a learning experience of excellence, where students receive expert mentorship and get hands-on experience with the filmmaking process, building confidence and nurturing creative expression. 🔗 Keep an eye out for the films launching soon on our YouTube channel. A massive congratulations to all involved! Keen to get involved and become a filmmaker? Keep an eye out for next year’s BFI Film Academy applications, opening in August 2025.

We’re excited to be part of #GivingTuesday this year! As a small creative arts charity, we need your help this festive season to continue to inspire more young people in 2025. We rely on the generosity of our supporters, without whom we couldn’t continue our important work across the UK. ⭐️ £10 could provide the financial support a young filmmaker needs to attend an inspiring filmmaking workshop with industry experts. ⭐️ £50 could enable a whole class to experience the joy of poetry with a classroom visit from one of our professional poets next year. ⭐️ £250 could allow an entire school to build wellbeing and resilience with a day of immersive storytelling workshops designed to celebrate positive mental health. We rely on the generosity of our supporters, without whom we couldn’t continue our important work across the UK. GivingTuesday 🔗 Donate now: https://bit.ly/3Vh5WHe

On the 6th November, we held a launch party for our Spoken Word Power 2024 Anthology ‘Hear My Voice’, at Shoreditch Town Hall. We were joined by representatives from UNESCO, many of our brilliant poet facilitators, young people who have taken part in the programme and their families, our trustees and the wider Eastside team to celebrate the fantastic work produced by schools across the country over the last year. With heartfelt poetry readings from the anthology led by young people and some of our artists, and a generous donation from Two Tribes brewery, it was a joyful evening that saw us looking back to celebrate and looking forward with anticipation of our upcoming 5 years of future funding for the programme in London from John Lyon's Charity. 🔗 Find out more about Spoken Word Power: https://lnkd.in/esVwDM7p
