We are thrilled to announce that our VR docu-fiction, There Exists, will premiere next week at SXSW Sydney. There Exists, co-written by Gaëlle M. (UK) and Julie Janson (AUS), delves into the early interactions between the Traditional Owners of the land and English settlers in New South Wales. This collaboration with First Nations creatives and consultants offers fresh perspectives on the English arrival, narrated through the eyes of one of the earliest female indentured servants and the Dharug people she encountered. Supported by the British Film Institute (BFI)’s Animation Film Fund, StoryFutures Academy, and the South Australian Film Corporation, There Exists employs #VR storytelling to uncover forgotten histories and bring archival material to new audiences. Exploring these untold experiences, There Exists sheds light on fragmented narratives and provides a platform for diverse voices. Thank you to the amazing and talented team who helped bring this special project to life: Gaëlle M., Julie Jason, Kylie Boltin, Anrick B., Shehani Fernando, Grace Baird, Lucy Wheeler, Anthony Attwood, RCL Graham, Emeka Malbert, Arthur Ah Chee, Elijah McDonald, Nathan Hartman, Rich Hemming, Jason Coulthard, Laura Loonstein, Jessie Drake Mangum, Lara Habib kobeissi, Alysha Nelson, Michelle O’Higgins, Charles Ingea, Gaelle Berton, Rosie Emery, Maf’j Alvarez, Nasim Hassani, Shreya Sharma, Evelin B. Eilmess, Hazel Boxall, Vaughan Lee-Spring, Jarrod Castaing, Miguel Sastre, Rodolfo Tinapay, Ruyi Meer, Yann Ryan. Thank you to our fabulous talent: Tamala Shelton, Billy McPherson, Billy McPherson Junior, Becky Wright, Tom Wylde, Roger Ringrose, Alfie Coolwell, Penelope Trappes and Amby Downs. And a special shout out to the fantastic support from Louise Ortega and Charley Fox from BFI, and Rebecca Gregory-Clarke, Fiona Kilkelly, Sarah Smyth and James Bennett from StoryFutures Academy.

'We had to wait for our shooting window but we made use of that time; sometimes what feels like a setback can make [the film] even better.' Writer-director Sasha Nathwani on the making of his debut feature, Berlinale prize winning Last Swim. Nathwani was joined by co-writer and executive producer Helen Simmons (Hoard), cinematographer Olan Collardy (Rye Lane) and producers Campbell Beaton and Nisha Mullea to discuss the creative genesis of the film and its business story. #LFF

'I don't think we should be copying the Hollywood model [...] we should be creating our own scene' We caught up with writer-director Alice Lowe at the London premiere of her timehopping second feature, #BFIBacked Timestalker, starring Alice Lowe, Jacob Anderson, Aneurin Barnard, Tanya Reynolds, and Nick Frost. Timestalker follows hapless heroine Agnes through time as she repeatedly falls for the wrong guy, dies a grim death, gets reincarnated a century later, before meeting him again and starting the cycle anew. It is one story told over many periods, all with the messy thrills and spills that come with daring to follow your heart... In cinemas now via Vertigo Releasing #NationalLottery
