We’re incredibly proud of Joe Drury for taking on the London Marathon this year for Step & Learn Charity. His dedication to such an important cause, supporting children like his son Edward, is truly inspiring. And a big shoutout to Hamish Allen, also from the EC1 team, who’s running for Asthma + Lung UK & Lung UK – another fantastic cause that’s close to our hearts. It’s amazing to see both of them giving it their all for such meaningful charities. To find out more about their stories and (hopefully) donate, check out the following links; Joe: https://lnkd.in/edE2CNA9 Hamish: https://lnkd.in/e8qexyxk Let’s show them both some love as they take on this incredible challenge. You’ve got this, Joe and Hamish!

This year, I’m taking on the London Marathon with my sister by my side, and I couldn’t be more excited (and a little bit nervous!). It’s a huge challenge, but it’s for a cause that really matters to me and my family. As many of you know, my son Edward has been receiving support from Step & Learn Charity, a fantastic Kent-based organisation that provides free Conductive Education to children with neurological conditions. Since February 2024, Edward has been making incredible progress, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at Step & Learn. Training for the marathon hasn’t been without its challenges – I’ve picked up a couple of minor injuries along the way, but nothing is going to stop me. Watching Edward thrive keeps me pushing through, step by step. This run is more than just a race; it’s about supporting a charity that’s making a real difference in our community. I’m proud to be running for Step & Learn, and I can’t wait to cross that finish line for Edward and all the children they help. To find out more about Edward and I’s story, please visit this link - https://lnkd.in/e_D_2Qxv, and if you’re able, a donation to this wonderful cause really REALLY helps with the motivation! Thanks for the continued support – here’s to finishing strong!

It’s been a pleasure working with another brilliant post-production client over the past few months. Wash's new office and editing suites at Bermondsey Exchange are a perfect blend of elegance and style. This turnkey project was a true collaboration, with our team fully aligned with the client’s vision from day one; resulting in a cohesive, beautifully executed space that’s a genuine reflection of their identity. • It was an absolute pleasure to design and build the stunning new office space for Edward Charles & Partners. Tucked away in Grotto’s Passage, a hidden walkway between shops and houses on Paddington Street, the location is easy to miss but opens onto a courtyard full of history. Edward Charles & Partners wanted to create a warm, welcoming environment where they could host clients, gather as a team, and socialise. This vision shaped the design, resulting in a space with a strong residential influence. A key part of this was the desire to prepare and share meals together, so we designed a large dining area and expanded the existing tea point with a generous worktop and additional storage. Bespoke joinery was fitted throughout, providing plenty of functional storage while allowing space to showcase artwork and ornaments. One of the most striking features is the glazed ceiling, built into a void between the ground and first floors. This allows natural light from the first-floor skylights to filter into the ground-floor meeting space while maintaining sound privacy. The result is a beautifully crafted workspace that balances comfort, functionality, and style. We’re incredibly proud to have brought this vision to life.

It’s been a while since we asked you to “Watch this Space,”. Now it’s time to shed some (gorgeous natural) light on the current project at Hambledon Wine Estate and give you an update of the story so far. The start of 2025 saw the completion of “The Restaurant”, a part of the visitors centre and set in large Green Oak barns. Bespoke furniture and moveable retail units sit alongside gorgeous soft wood interiors, with huge windows framing the vineyard views. A full reveal of the whole project will be coming in the following weeks and we can’t wait for you to see it, it’s an absolute beauty! • The way businesses create their new workspaces has evolved. Whilst working with project managers, cost consultants and other professional teams have their advantages, for some businesses, engaging with a design & build firm will simplify the journey, reduce costs, and can speed up delivery: Working directly with us means: - Cost clarity from day one, fewer layers mean fewer unexpected fees. - You get an EC1 superstar overseeing design, build and delivery. - With design and construction under one roof, we can achieve a faster project turnaround. - Seamless communication, with no multiple parties or conflicting priorities. - Full accountability; no handovers between different firms, just one dedicated team. - Creative flexibility is easier when direct collaboration means ideas can be refined in real time. - A stress-free (or at least less stressful) experience - we simplify every step so you can focus on running your business. At EC1, we thrive in both models, but we know that for many businesses, a direct approach is the most efficient way to achieve a stunning new workspace. Which approach is right for your business? Let’s chat.
