October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth! When should you start breast cancer screenings? Our friends at Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) have created this great fact sheet to shed a light on Breast Cancer Screenings. Learn more about #BreastCancer: https://ow.ly/yqm250TI8pf
Do you know the screening recommendations for #BreastCancer? Beginning at age 40, women with low to average risk of breast cancer may begin annual screening. All women ages 45 to 54 should get screened annually. After turning 55, screening can occur every 1-2 years on the condition that their overall health is good. Women who are high risk for breast cancer (such as with a family history of the disease) may begin screenings starting at the age of 30. Always talk to a provider about the best screening options for you. This #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, SWHR is shedding light on screenings: > A Mammogram is an x-ray that provides an image of the breast. > Digital breast tomosynthesis creates a detailed 3D image of the breast by taking multiple photos from different angles. > Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses magnets, radio waves, and contrast dye to make images of breast tissue. Download SWHR’s Breast Cancer fact sheet to learn more! https://ow.ly/yqm250TI8pf #SWHRtalksCancer Check out more resources from organizations like American Cancer Society, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and Susan G.
