You’ll never guess the week I’ve just had! Last week was a summation of 6 years of consistent hard work. 18 year old me would have never imagined that I’d be on a global stage talking about a platform I have made that would transform the lives of thousands of young people across the world! (Econominds use a combination of gamification and AI to create personalised revision resources for students, boosting engagement and retention) I was pitching at #londontechweek for the TechNation rising stars competition. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring home the win- a huge shout out to Novai for their incredible innovation in the health tech space. Despite this, I felt like a winner in that room because: 🧠 I got to share my passion about creating an education space where all students can thrive with 1000s of people at the biggest tech event of the year. If I can change the perception of just 1 person about what it means to be neurodivergent and how to empower their own network, then that’s a job well done! 🧠 Connect with educators in the space! Collaboration>>> competition. I met with lots of people who have the same mission as me- transform 1 dimensional classrooms into agile spaces to empower the young leaders of tomorrow. Keep your eyes peeled for some major collaborations 👀 🧠 Get inspired! I met some incredible businesses that have challenged the way I think, and therefore, how I will run Econominds going forward. My team have also been exceptional with enabling me to deliver a fantastic pitch to the judges/ audience and to put on an incredible stand for the attendees. I can confirm the general public was not smarter than the average Econominds student 😂 More of a reason to grab your package! A bit of a pinch me moment! I was invited today for my first round table event as an AI expert discussing whether AI was a threat or an opportunity. I have taken the name tag for the memory box! My key takeaways from the event: 📍When looking at identity safety it’s key to ask what is it to be sentient as opposed to what does it mean to be human. 📍AI will probably end up regulating AI as humans cannot keep up with the exponential data processing power needed. The question is, who regulates this? 📍Cybersecurity needs to be at the heart of regulation and there needs to be strict punishment in the form of fines if rules are broken. 📍The EU have been planning regulation around AI for the past 11 years and the UK is yet to start. The EU framework is the best one to follow to future proof your AI technology innovations so they are ethical and legal. 📍This is the first revolution that small businesses have been involved in due to how accessible Chat GPT has been to the market. The biggest problem here is lots of people who lack the skills/ education to use AI don’t know how or where to start. 📍If you don’t jump on the bandwagon, you’ll be left behind! An education piece on the opportunities that are available whilst using AI need to be presented to areas such as education or industries that are scared of job displacement (estimated to be a 10% net gain of employment and 20% gain in productivity due to AI) Econominds is a tool for teachers to make data driven decisions in the classroom. Teachers no longer need to plan lesson content or mark, they can just focus on the the thing they love most- teaching!
