More than 150 Trainees from over 50 Employers are now a month into their Apprenticeship journey either in the Workshop learning new skills or in the Academy learning the theory of Engineering Systems. All of the team at EKGTA will support them as they continue this journey between now and summer 2025 when we'll do it all again. Good luck all!

It was a pleasure to welcome your new recruits this morning, and we thank you for trusting in EKGTA to deliver the leading Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering program in Scotland. Mackenzie and Reece form part of a cohort of 60 trainees who started their Modern Apprenticeship training in The Academy today, undertaking the NC in Engineering Systems as part of their Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering journey. These 60 new recruits join the 60 who started the vocational element on the 5th of August bringing the total for our August 24/25 intake to 120 apprentices. We have been working hard over the summer to increase our capacity in anticipation for one of our busiest intakes yet!

🚀 Exciting News at EKGTA! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce that, from Monday, EKGTA will be delivering the NC in Engineering Systems as part of our Modern Apprenticeship programme, all in-house! This marks the launch of our new department, The Academy, dedicated to delivering high-quality academic qualifications alongside our already robust training programs. A warm welcome to Stephen Kinnon and Chris Gray, our newly appointed lecturers, who bring decades of experience in education and the industry to our team. We’re also fortunate to have Raymond Lyon, former Head of Engineering at Glasgow Clyde College, supporting us during our pivotal first year. This expansion allows us to provide a more integrated and seamless learning experience for your apprentices, ensuring they receive top-tier education and practical training under one roof. Since 1966 we have been committed to providing the best possible education and training experience, and this is another huge development in our continued efforts to improve our delivery. We’re excited for the future and the opportunities this brings to our learners, employers, partners, and the broader engineering community. #Engineering #ModernApprenticeship #SkillsDevelopment #Education #EKGTA #EngineeringExcellence

We're #hiring! A unique opportunity has arisen to join our team in East Kilbride as a Training Instructor. We are welcoming applications from time-served engineers looking to take a step back from frontline engineering. A background in training delivery would be advantageous but not necessary as training will be provided. Get your applications in quick as demand for these roles is always high and the application may close sooner than the advertised date.

Congratulations to all the Award Winners, as David rightly says, the calibre of Trainees this year (and every year) is impressive. The team here are like proud parents on Graduation Day except that we get to do it every year.

Regional Engineering Lead (Scotland) at Finsbury foods; Director at EKGTA; Society of Operational Engineers Environmental Advisory Committee

Attended the Apprentice Awards ceremony this afternoon at East Kilbride Group Training Association (EKGTA) and, as always, was highly impressed by the young people who are starting out on their engineering journey -- potential they have is enormous! Guest speaker was Dr Mick O'Connor (former welder!!) and an excellent talk about his engineering journey from the shipyards in Greenock to tea at No 10. Very inspiring keynote speech and his key point? The only thing that sometimes gets in our way of ourselves is ourselves. Standard was extremely high so well done to those who did receive awards -- although the young man who won the Best Final Year Apprentice looked less than impressed (maybe even horrified?) when i told him that I won that award in 1989-90!!

Our Annual Awards Ceremony is coming up on the 17th May and we are looking for a Guest Speaker to speak to present some Awards and give a short presentation or speech. Last year, Paul Sheerin very kindly stepped in and the Trainees really enjoyed hearing some positivity about our Industry and about some of the challenges and opportunities ahead for them. Thanks again Paul. If anyone would like to volunteer and is available for an hour or so on the day, please get in touch with David Bell
